SP? Who is that?

I listened to some oHgr on youtube and enjoyed what I heard except - and this is my most common complaint about industrial music - I didn't really enjoy the vocals. A lot of times, even if the singer is good, his voice is SO filtered throughout the whole song that it just sounds weird. I've never heard of Angelspit or a blipvert but I'm always curious to see how artificial sounds are engineered. Why don't you send me a link?

Yeah Lots of vocal layers in Angelspit, both members sing in totally different styles it works well I think.

I saw one of his last ever (until the comeback) live shows in '09. While they weren't especially heavy, the sheer volume combined with the extreme lighting caused a massive sensory overload. I quite enjoyed it, but they/he won't ever rank as a personal favourite.

NIN is really good. Trent is an extremely talent composer (Oscar winner booyaaahhhh). I like a lot of his hits, but I find myself usually listening to his instrumental work.

True, I have a soft spot for instrumentals. It makes the artist focus that much more on the actual music instead of the lyrics.

I've always liked NIN. Good stuff, should look more into them. Currently only have With Teeth and The Downward Spiral. Though I have to admit when it comes to industrial rock my current favorite is definitely Blue Stahli. Ghosts the album is on spotify, most of them are really cool if a little wacked out, some of them are like the above one and really poignant and chilled, like 'a warm place'.

The films are all on youtube although its hard to find specific ones, most are pretty cool, begin to get you down after a while though.

I really love The Slip. It's been one of NIN's albums that I listen to more frequently. Other albums I just tend to like particular songs. Though seeing them live was an experience all should have.

Nine Inch Nails are fucking awesome. Though their albums cost way too much. I mean really, £10 for Broken? It only has 6 tracks!

Downward Spiral and The Fragile is all i have. And they're pretty darned awesome.

I don't know many songs from the latter, but the best from downward spiral are Closer, Reptile, and Mr Self Destruct

You can't really go around insulting a massive band like NIN unless you can make good music. Nuff said.

you do realize that Nivek Ogre (frontman of Skinny Puppy and Ohgr) is pretty much Trent Reznor's only admitted inspiration, right? might not wanna call him crappy when he's basically NIN's godfather. don't have to like him, just keep in mind that Trent does.

also, for context, that's easily the weakest song off that album, musically. it's basically just a parody/insult toward white rappers and rap-rockers, like Eminem and Limp Bizkit, and thus not meant to sound amazing.

I'm a fan of NIN. I like more of Reznor's older stuff though.

My favorite CD is With Teeth since it was my 1st NIN CD and got me into the band (I know, I was late to the party...)

Broken is on of my go-to albums (ok, it's an EP, sue me) when I'm in a pissy mood and feel the need to destroy. It's just an angry, brutal piece of work, almost start to finish.
