I beat, well probably half to 3/4 of the games I play. Some older ones I haven't due to extreme difficulty or not having the correct hook ups(though having the systems and games still).

I also keep a list of every game I can remember beating without using cheats. Okay a few I did, but largely those were STILL insanely hard and in the case of xenogears miang fight, broken cpu cheating bullshit so I still count it.

Current count is at....(checks) 294.
thats awsome!

OT: its kind of hard to "finish" dwarf fortress.
Completely impossible I believe, along withe minecraft, and probably terraria. Still fun though. Never played DF though as atari and ascii graphics is about where I have to draw the line on not caring about graphics.

If I have to guess and imagine too much, I may as well play d&d.

Hmmm I wonder how a DF themed d&d game would work.....
tried lazy newb pack? (I can't take ASCII for long either).
it makes a world of difference, and I just tried pressing [shift]+[>] instead of [ENTER].
....... I maybe has a problemo.

(Except Demon's Souls because that game is a product of Satan)
No, more like a professional dominatrix in game form. You give her your money, she hurts you but damnit you like it and want more.

I've got a lot of games I haven't finished yet but that's either because they were underwhelming or because they're long games that I only play for an hour or so at a time when I'm in the mood.

One of the only games I have never completed is Evil Genius, and that is because that game is a cheap ass. Oh and Demons Soals, because Blue Dragon, and Maneaters.

That report is based on Red Dead Redemption. I specifically avoided this game because of how mediocre GTA4 was. If RDR was of the same caliber as GTA4, then of course people aren't finishing it. It probably gets boring about half way through. Rockstar really isn't a good yardstick for this type of thing.

Use Mass Effect, and we'll see some seriously different results.

And I'm sure that most people on these forums make up the 10% anyway.

Well, I'm playing 9 or 10 games at once right now, and I intend to finish them all. I guess that means I'm making up for all the gamers who won't be finishing their games.

I played DA:O for about six hours (read: about getting to base camp for the first time) before becoming way too bored to keep playing. Quake II and IV, Far Cry 2, FEAR (I gave up at the first invisible enemies, declaring it a dick move on the creator's part), and a handful more. Some games just don't warrant finishing.

There are very few games I'm going to 100% but when it comes to single-player story mode there are a lot that I have finished. What constitutes a game being finished now, anyway? There are obvious ones where you have a percentage marker but then there are games with extensive multiplayer. Halo Reach for example: I beat the campaign but not on Legendary or Heroic. I think I'm a grade 3 corporal or something like that, hell I don't know, but I still consider that game beaten. Red Dead Redemption however, I got to Mexico and just couldn't go any further due to crippling apathy.

I only play games on single-player at this point. Most games have multiplayer so they will also have multiplayer only achievements. Going by that alone, there are a ton of games I will never finish. I consider myself done at the end of the narrative.

There's a few games I haven't finished, but most of those were rentals, that I became bored with. Dante's Inferno, for instance--I played it shortly after God of War 3, and by playing the highly polished and fluid game first, then playing the sticky, slow, two-button mashfest that was Dante's Inferno meant I was constantly tired of it being so slow. I've beaten almost all of the games I own, though, bar a few titles. But I have completed, at least story wise, at least...80, 85% of the games I have played. Dead Rising 2, though, when I rented it...I just couldn't have fun with the sloggingly slow pace that the putz ran. I had things to do, game, and that meant I need a reasonable movement speed. I wasn't with it for half a day before becoming dreadfully bored with it. So, back it went.

I currently own 23 games, I have beaten 12, 5 are sandbox games I pretty much just screw around in, the others are just games that I haven't gotten around to beating, but I've borrowed and rented a ton of games and I usually beat the, before sending them back, so I'd say I finish somewhere around 1/2 to 2/3 of the games I've ever played.

Usually the games I finish are the ones with the best stories, and RPGs like Metro 2033, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Mass Effect 1/2, and Dragon Age 1/2, IMO these games had stories I enjoyed amd wanted to see to the end, games that I really enjoy the gameplay, exploration, or just screwing around, like Just Cause 2, Fallout, or GTA I usually take my sweet ass time with and sometimes I just never get around to beating them.

Well, I plan to finish every game I own, but when it starts feeling like a chore, it's time to put it down for a while.

Except Fable 3. Fuck Fable.
You didn't miss much with Fable 3. It has one moment of badass in the 4th act and then it's like Molyneux got distracted by something shiny. Everything prior is dreadfully "meh" and everything after is pure story structure blue balls.

I have not beaten Gotcha Force (because it's hard and long and has terrible voice-acting) or Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 (You know why)

I finish most games i start partially because an unfishished game to me just feels wrong (obviously not counting bullshit 100% finishes by searching ever damn nook and cranny in the game)
The funny thing is that i didnt finish red dead because i accidentally mailed it to netflix (long story) XP
of course there is the occasional unfinished game, we all have them (screw you dead rising and your unmerciful save system)

Since the current game I'm playing is Tom Biskup's ADOM rogue-like, the reason I don't finish is because I *CAN'T*. The game is brutal and without save-scumming I've never made it past level 20 and never gotten a single orb. Even save-scumming, I've never even come close to finishing it.

I get distracted.. A LOT.. Often, I'll get about 50-80% through a game, get distracted, stop playing, come back in 6ish months, and start over since I'd have forgotten too much about the game, and repeat....
