Its day-one game lineup was anywhere from craptastic to nonexistent. And, at the time, the best use of the 3D tech was the OK Go video.
As of now, aside from Kid Icarus, most of its games of noteworthiness have been ports, such as the 3 you mentioned, Tales of the Abyss, etc.
IMHO, there really isn't enough 3DS content to warrant an upgrade if you already have a working DS.

Well there is nothing to hate but it also doesn't make sense in the current lineup, all the best games are simply DS games, and you get a DS now for 1/3 the price and the games dirt cheap.
Then there is the issue of having such a closed and limited platform anyway when there is a phone in your pocket that can do near everything and has games for pennies.

I'd say what it has now would be an average launch lineup. What it started with (and up until about November/December of last year) was an absolute joke. What were they thinking? They could have waited a bit longer, included the dual analog instead of making an accessory one later (which would have also made it easier on developers, who would then know that all 3DS owners have dual analogs), and had a half-decent launch library. Then the launch would have likely been good, and they wouldn't have had to climb out of the hole.
Is there anything worth playing on it yet that isn't a re-release? It came out ages ago, there should be some good games by now.
