Why do people say Nintendo is not good with online? From what I've heard, Miiverse is a very good service, and other than not having accounts (Which granted, is a major issue), the Wii U's online is decent.

Yes, the Wii U's online is decent and definitely a step in the right direction. The Miiverse is a great addition and really brings out the friendly "Nintendo" community across the Wii U's library through its integration.

That being said, the Wii's online was atrocious and cumbersome to even get working properly, at least in regards to Super Smash Bros Brawl. It may be Nintendo's insistance on having both the Wii and the Wii U be incapable of connecting via a proper ethernet cable (as this was/is also the case with the DS and the 3DS, currently) but the shift toward and friendly, semi-connected online system works in Nintendo's favor.

It seems to work well (generally speaking) most of the time, but yeah, Brawl's online was awful, plain and simple.

[sub]Personally speaking, anyway.[/sub]

Well, the Wii wasn't very good at all in terms of online, and Nintendo is still receiving hate for that.

The WiiU, while a step in the right direction, is still not on par with what Microsoft and Sony have, and even Iwata has stated that Nintendo has no intention to catch them. As a result, Nintendo's online is comparatively worse than the competitor's, which is the important consideration when looking at buying a console (at least if online functionality matters).

I suppose they tend to say that because the internet on the Wii was god awful. It didn't seem to be able to connect properly at all and it takes such a long time to get working. Just trying to connect to the wii shop was hellish. Also I found the ds to be awful when it came to the internet. But to be honest I think that's because I had to travel around to get an internet connection on the ds, since the one at home wasn't compatible no matter how many times I changed the type of it to try and be compatible.
