Really? It actually tells you that you need the next 3DS to play Rebirth? That's real crappy of them.

They've done a ton of stupid shit lately, including the way they design their games now is uninspiring, the forced gimmicks are still annoying, and I really hate what they've done with the Amiibo's and their special DLC.

I'm beginning to really dislike them as a whole now. Going beyond disappointed here.

What really feels like a kick to the gonads is that they are advertising Binding of Isaac: rebirth on the 3ds store but when you click on it, it says that you must have "the new 3DS."

The thing is, Rebirth sort-of requires the 2 extra buttons for using particular items and dropping cards/pills. Are they necessary? No, but they're in the game.

If we are already on the subject, can someone help me make my mind, I want to buy a Wii-U but it will be pretty much solely for Xenoblade 2. Should I buy it? and should I buy an european or american console (I live in Israel)?

I'm in Europe and what I've heard at least our Eshop has lower prices than in the US.
So if you can put 50-100dollars/euros on a >200GB external harddrive for games to download, then I'd say Europe.
Unless there are BIG differences, I don't know about that...

As for getting a WiiU. I'd say yes, but I am biased.
Xenoblade is certainly a systemseller, then I've really enjoyed Splat00n, MarioKart and Smash.
Other titles I really liked, was ZombiU, which was weird since I really don't like scary/horror games.
Othe titles I enjoyed which I really didn't think I would were Pikmin3, Bayonetta and Wonderful101. Very enjoyable games.
Then there are loads of "small" titles in the Eshop really worth a buy, Trine series, TankTankTank, Armillo, ShovelKnight etc.
Then of course the older cross titles like DeusEx and DarksiderII, if you haven't played those.

Not sure what I should say... a buggy game, it was 5?... big deal?

So i went out and picked up a $20 nintendo card from work and i paid the $4.99 to buy megaman 3 for my unused 3ds that has been gathering dust.

Now I'm not best platformer especially when it comes to old NES titles. But this game is nearly unplayable. The amount of framerate drops that occur in this game when more than one enemy is on screen are absolutely ridiculous. The fact people are giving this game on there store 5 stars is mind boggling to say the least.

I personally would be embarrassed if I was running a store that sold this. What exactly is making this game cost $5? They are not fixing it, or even trying to when it has been on there store for a long time. I'm angry at my self for being suckered into thinking that nintendo would actually give a shit as to what they are selling their customers.

Have you played the game on the regular NES? The NES games on the eshop are made to play exactly like the NES did, which includes framerate drops when the screen gets too busy, it happens with any NES game even on the wii u.

I'm wondering if you ever played Mega Man games on the NES. The framerate slowdown was exactly how the originals played. And we who grew up with that and played it as new managed to get through it. I'd guess that you didn't play it on an NES so are unaware this is how it was, this was the norm and apparently whoever ported it decided to keep it as is.

Now if it was a huge drop from what was originally presented I can understand complaining about that but not when you're talking about a game that is fairly well loved by most who grew up with it and I've never heard the frame drop as a complaint from anyone before. Its just jarring to see that emulating the console games as if they ran on the system itself being considered a bad thing.
I could even understand if it was that the controls were unresponsive or lagged. Just an odd thing to complain about is all.

IIRC it was an issue with pretty much all the Mega Man NES titles, and it just added to the difficulty, but made it memorable as hell. It may have been the limitations of the console but it did make the experience IMO much more challenging. Mega Man is still one of the games I put on my top 10 hard as hell but worth it lists. Between that, Ghosts n' Goblins and Adventure Island, that really made the era of Nintendo Hard.

I am disappointed in Nintendo for for a variety of reasons, but the next 3DS and, to an extent, the VC are not included in those reasons. The New 3DS (still a horrible name BTW) is just like what someone said above, a Game Boy Color and DSi (and even the GBA SP, at least for the backlight), a mid-gen upgrade that some games will have exclusive features for and some games will be exclusive to. It's a Nintendo handheld thing. You just gotta accept it and either pay more to be an early adopter or wait until the mid gen upgrade comes out. Or, stop giving them money (which many have obviously been doing since the Gamecube days).

The Binding of Isaac deal is kinda lame, but the home page for me shows a big ugly "NEW Nintendo 3DS XL logo" on the Binding of Isaac slide. It's the only game on the 3DS homepage that is doing that right now. They at least make it obvious they wanted to kick you in the 'nads if you clicked on it.

Yeah, there are cases were they could do a better job curating other publishers' games on the VC, but blame should still be put on Capcom if the MM3 version on the Wii U VC is less stable than the NES original. Although, I also find the VC prices a bit ridiculous for games that are 25-30 years old and have made multi-million dollar franchises, so I haven't really bought a lot of VC titles. (I've only bought 7 games total for the Wii's and Wii U's VC, 2 of which I owned the carts for at the time of purchase). The Wii U VC is also pretty disappointing compared to the Wii's lineup at nearly 3 years old.

I haven't tried any of the Mega Man games on my 3DS but I've recently upgraded to a 3DSXL and noticed that a couple other VC games are...not at all worse but not noticeably better. I have played Mega Man VI and VII on the Wii U though and noticed no issues but it's a damn shame that the 3DS version of a freaking NES game is anything less than cart-perfect.

What disappoints me about Nintendo is how under-utilized the Virtual Console feels in general. The VC on Wii is fantastic by virtue of how many years it's had to add on to that catalog but the fact that there are essentially 3 VCs is kind of ridiculous. What's worse is how we only get one or two VC releases a week and no hint of a VC merger between the Wii and Wii U at least.

The 3DS is a nice platform with a truly staggering library, but it's just what you said about the "must have" factor. It's not there anymore, and that's sad. Still, they have a lot of money, a big name, and access to talent and fan goodwill. They can still turn this around if they figure it out.

I'll note the WiiU tablet isn't really noticeably heavy. Its quite comfortable actually. My only drawback is that I keep wanting to play games on it but my backlog of games on other platforms (PS3/4, 360, XB1, Wii, PC) is over 200... I have no clue how I got this laden down with games.

Well, "light" can be a relevant term if you already have wrist issues. The controller is roughly double the weight of an Xbox 360 controller.

I can only assume you have never worked in retail. If you do work in retail i hope its not in management. I do work in retail and and curating is a big part of it. When i built features of items and put them on display, i have to make sure none of the products are broken. The same goes for merchandise i put on the shelf. If a product is broken it is put into claims. Nintendo does not curate its store and does not care that its customer buy broken merchandise. CAPCOM may have shat the game out onto the storm front but nintendo put it on display.

But...the slowdown was purposefully kept. Let's put it this way, the slowdown caused by the megaman games when there are more than 5 projectiles on screen is so iconic that when the retro Megaman 9 and 10 were made, the slowdown was PURPOSEFULLY kept faithful. So...yeah, really odd that you're blaming Nintendo for this. You really need to blame Capcom for deciding that this is a feature.

I can understand that. Many years of arcade fighting games (and lots of wasted quarters) and I can't use a traditional arcade joystick any more without my forearms locking up into the Mr. Burns position, as well as major pain involved. I have my consoles set up in front of the bed so I can lay back and prop my knees up to use as a rest for the tablet, makes it easier on the wrists and forearms.

Couldn't you shut that off in those versions? I remember having the sprite flicker being in was a huge deal and people were happy as hell. It sounds like TC never even played a megaman game on the NES to be honest (or any game on the NES if you never heard of slow down or sprite flicker). I remember a game that had slow down due to the amount of sprites which made the fight easy.
