Nintendo's sure talking the talk when it comes to third party support. If the console can end up walking the walk I might seriously get invested back into Nintendo's line of stuff. With the exception of this generation I took the 360 over the Wii but everything else I've gotten has been Nintendo with the exception of my Sega Genesis.

Handheld lines they still are top dog but I was pretty Nintendo faithful up through the Gamecube. I'd happily jump back on board their ship if the new console is all it's cracked up to be.

Color me interested. Now, if they'd only show a picture of their ACTUAL GODDAMN CONSOLE.
Here ya go.

It was actually in that E3 trailer, but they never drew attention to it for some reason. I can understand emphasizing the controller, since that's the biggest feature, especially for investors and...well, the people who'd find out about the system on tv commercials, but there were some people who thought this was a Wii addon instead of a new console for about a week after E3...
I know about that, but it's the only picture of it and it only shows the front. Lame.

So, it'll kind of be like what's [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/3565-Accountability] happening [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/7058-Experienced-Points-I-Have-Seen-The-Future-And-it-is-Annoying] on the PC where the publishers will need you to create an account to use their games? Where you'll have to create multiple accounts to play online?

And how will you track friends? Will there be a global friend's list, or will each publisher have their own list?

By the sound of things, Wii U will be quite the clusterfuck where online play is concerned.

I hope we can have Steam on the WiiU! It would be sweet to see Gordon Freeman on SSB.

Steam... on Nintendo...
THAT!IS!AWESOME!!!!
I had my doubts but if Nintendo is able to follow up on their promise of many good games and they support Steam they definitely have a buyer out of me.

While Steam on the WiiU is an attractive prospect, im still not buying one until i know what there is on it.

2. With a platform like the Wii-U publishers and rival platforms may be MORE inclined to try and fuck eachother over. Take for example EA pulling Crysis 2 from steam to try and hoc their own Dig-Dist platform. It could lead to a cluster fuck, land-grab, knife fight between deiiferent companies.
EA didnt pull Crysis 2 to bring attention to thier Steam ripknockoff, Valve pulled it because EA broke the publishing contract.

Also i wouldnt be so sure about the companies going out of thier way to directly subvert thier competitors, the fear of a lawsuit more than puts this in its place.

I'm pretty sure if a TF2 character was in SSB it would be The Pyro. None of the others seem to work as well. Then again, if you look at how they used Snake any of them could work I guess... GLaDOS as a support character, aperture science as a battlefield, Chell as a character, corrupted cores as items. IT ALL WORKS!

It looks kinda neat, although it's hard not to think of it as a DVD player or something like that, but then, it seem like it's going to be around the same size of a regular Wii, wich is a big plus.

OT: Well, I was already sold before they mentioned this, but right now, I've got only 1 thing to say.

Mostly people continually prove that they're too pathetically lazy to do so much as a goddamn search on Google.

Anyway, I think I'll wait until Nintendo actually shows what they're online system is going to be like. Discussing it is way different from actually seeing it. I've committed to buying the system for some time, mostly I own every Nintendo console due to needing to play the Big N's first party offerings. Their first party games are still the best made in the entire industry

This is good news. But I agree, we'll have to see their first party stuff first. And Steam alone won't make the platform great, it needs support.

Great news, if this means that the other companies that use Steam will develop their games for the Wii U.

I don't have a PS3, so could someone clear up how this works with Sony? Is it just select games, or is steam's entire library available on the PS3 now? Don't want to get too excited before I know how these deals actually work ;)
