I couldn't find another forum for this topic so correct me if i'm wrong. Is it me or have NIntendo started making their consoles/games more and more for the younger gamers. I remember when the N64 had games that kept many teens entertained (ie. zelda, 007 Golden Gun). Now its all Wii Music and Cooking Mama and not too many games fro the more mature gamer in a sense. Has anyone else noticed this?

Even the Banjo-Kazooie games had writty statements and a few good jokes. Now its gone down the toilet with the whole games for everyone.
Don't worry though, soon enough Microsoft and Rare will put up Banjo-Tooie on Xboxlive so Xbox users will be able to play some actually good games by Rare (mostly remembered with their best moments of working with Nintendo). As for Wii users, why not try out the Homebrew channel (there is a lot of great user created stuff on there) as I doubt Nintendo themselves will start making their games for a mature audience. Damn Nintendo, they even toned down the zombies in the latest Zelda games.

I forget, casual games aren't fun! They cannot be of anyuse to anyone past puberty unless they are the mentally ill. Oh and all the rail shooters which I know arent to everyones taste are pretty good at saving you several tonnes worth of coinage down the arcade!

And if nintendo are run by kids I may have some as they seem to be absolute geniuses at financial planning and advertising!

Well thats their catch. "Games for every age". That sucks really but I don't really care 'cause I don't own a Wii.

it does seem to be very child-focused at the moment. at least with previous consoles they had some good horror games (ShadowMan on the 64, Eternal Darkness on the GC, etc) but i dont think ive seen anything like that on the wii. Red Steele is a bit more adulty but it dint have the same immersion as walking through the Playrooms with murderous things with meat-hooks after you that made noises which sent fear down your spine whenever you heard them.

Nintendo has always tried for more 'family friendly' Remember they were the ones who first censored mortal kombat and Wolfenstien 3D

Consider this, IGN has only reviewed five Wii titles to be 9.0 or above, and the ternd follows suit on other websites. Hats off to Nintendo for fnding their niche this generation, but for people who want quality not quantity, it's not an appealing product any more. I currentl play my gamecube more than the Wii

I don't like the term 'kiddy' when applied to Nintendo. Not as it's being commonly used.
I do think it's correct in the sense that Nintendo targets a younger audience. But they're not aiming at children only.
I do like the term 'casual gamer'. Not because I am one -I'm hovering in between, actually. But because it describes a certain audience that likes to play games just for fun, when they have a little time for themselves, and who want a fun experience. Where a hardcore gamer deserves to get the cutting edge games, and the best experience they can get.
Metroid Prime? Mad World? No More Heroes? Try and tell me with a straight face they're the best modern technology can produce. But you can convince me they're a different experience.

So there, if you'd tell me Nintendo is only for kids, I strongly disagree. If you tell me Nintendo isn't for the hardcore, we agree.

You're just being blinded by the obscene amount of casual games Nintendo are throwing in our faces. If you manage to wade behind all that rubbish, you can find some pretty good titles.

Family-friendly =\= Kiddie.
Which is something Nintendo does not understand. They spam out the latter, not the former.

Since...Ever to be honest... Except as the world went by, gaming in general evolved... Nintendo sadly didn't.

So how do you explain that I thoroughly enjoy many Nintendo titles? I'm not a child, nor do I have the mentality of one.
