Nintendo Reveals First 3DS Titles It'll Show the Public

An upcoming public Nintendo 3DS event will feature more than 10 playable games and many more in video form.

Nintendo's first effort in the battle to show consumers how the 3DS works, as it can't be truly experienced through video, is an upcoming public event [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104861-Nintendo-Holding-Public-Event-to-Demo-3DS] to take place in Japan called Nintendo World. Nintendo has revealed which games it'll be featuring at the event, which could hint towards the titles most likely to be available at the system's launch.

Notable games to be shown in video form will be Star Fox 64 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart. Nintendo will also be giving the public a look at its suite of augmented reality titles that come pre-installed on the 3DS, in addition to showing off the 3D picture-taking abilities of the 3DS's cameras.

The 3DS games that will be playable at Nintendo World include:

* Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D The Naked Sample
* Winning Eleven 3D Soccer
* Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
* Resident Evil Revelations
* Samurai Warriors Chronicle
* Dead or Alive Dimensions
* Ridge Racer 3D
* Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
* Nintendogs + Cats
* Kid Icarus
* Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D
* Steel Diver
* Pilot Wings Resort

Children under 6 years old will not be allowed to use the 3DS at the event, due to questions [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102738-Doctor-3D-Wont-Damage-Gamers-Eyesight] about 3D's effects on developing eyesight. Nintendo is apparently recommending that kids under 6 not play the 3DS at all.

If the playable titles available at Nintendo World give us an idea of what the 3DS will launch with, there should be a decent selection to choose from when the handheld is released in 2011. The Nintendo World 3DS demo will take place from January 8-10, 2011, and hopefully will come with the reveal of more information about the games it'll feature. Nintendo is holding a press event [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106200-Rumor-3DS-Details-Likely-On-January-19] for the 3DS outside of Japan in multiple locations on January 19, but hasn't revealed what it'll show or say there yet, or made any plans known for an overseas public event.

The 3DS will be available in Japan on February 26, 2011 for ¥25,000.

Street Fighter
Layton
Resident Evil
Ocarina of Time

All I'm interested in from that...

I suppose asking Komami for another amazing handheld Castlevania game is too much to ask?

For a game that may or may not actually be happening, Snake Eater sure gets a lot of press exposure...

Dead or Alive? Dimensions? I wont buy the 3DS but I still hope that its a fighting game and not like the Volleyball games, after all this is in 3D, I will be suprised if they actually make a fighting game and not a jugs frenzy game like DOA EV2.

I am seriously concerned about them not letting kids under 6 use it for eye health reasons. How can they be completely sure it ONLY has a negative effect on kids that young?

No hard core RPGs it seems, as that is my personal interest I have yet to be impressed.

Speaking of hard core, that Metal Gear game sounds like the title of a gay porn movie.

I can just see it now, people expecting military action are instead treated to an exerpt from the Boss' early days before he met the lady Big Boss (who he was never intimate with apparently... at least according to some sources hmmm), working the "kitchen" at an officer's club. Naked except for a slitted apron the young "soldier" stands there offering naked samples of his "Solid Snake" to the visitors. The game itself putting the player in the role of one of these said officers known as "Captain Yaoi". The "naked sample" extends up from the bottom screen in 3D while the player puts their mouth down over the projection and seeks to score points through tongue motions detected by the camera, while the flip screen is used to make dreamy eye contact with the man who will one day be known as "Big Boss". It would of course feature an authentic 1960s porno soundtrack, and grunts and statements of approval based on performance from the same actor who played Snake in "Peace Walker". This of course to be followed by a sequel about Paz's job as a translator pre-Peacewalker called "Metal Gear Solid: Cunning Linguist".

Perhaps this is why young children aren't allowed to play? >:)

All kidding aside, when they release a sequel to "The World Ends With You", a "Shin Megami Tensei" game, or even a "Final Fantasy" in 3d I'll be interested. Very few of those games really capture my imagination. That said, I *AM* looking forward to the release of the 3DS, already trying to put some money away to buy one.

From the screens, it looks like a fighting game.

And Dead or Alive is a very solid fighting series, so I expect good things.w

Dead or Alive does have male characters, you know people!

I'm interested, certainly, but my anticipation won't have a chance to peak until I can actually see the effect with my own eyes. They really need to get demo units into stores next year, not just city events.

I sure hope they keep the #DS the same size as the DSI XL, that size was a godsend, we need to making these screens bigger, not smaller it gets hard on the eyes.

The thing I'm hoping for, oddly enough, is a Silent Hill game. Yes, snicker behind my back if you will, but I think it would be great to see such a thing.

Hey, hands up anyone who really doesn't care about the 3DS!

*hand*

Okay, I'm intrigued by Animal Crossing, but that's it.
