It will play regular DS games and have its own Virtual Console (I imagine it will feature games from the Game and Watch and Gameboy series).

About the 3D possibly harming developing eye sight...you think they'd add parental contols that can disable the slider and keep the 3D off instead of warning parents to not buy them.

No hard core RPGs it seems, as that is my personal interest I have yet to be impressed.
Don't worry, its just the first outting of the console and its games. Give it a week or two, no doubt that there will be announcements of RPG titles.

I am so looking forward to this release, I just hope time continues to move as quickly next year as it has this year.

I am seriously concerned about them not letting kids under 6 use it for eye health reasons. How can they be completely sure it ONLY has a negative effect on kids that young?
They're not completely sure that it has any negative effect whatsoever on kids under 6.

It's a standard warning because someone in the medical field has theorized (there's no actual evidence) that using 3D imaging incorrectly for extended periods of time might cause the muscle tissue surrounding the eyes to develop improperly.

Dead or Alive? Dimensions? I wont buy the 3DS but I still hope that its a fighting game and not like the Volleyball games, after all this is in 3D, I will be suprised if they actually make a fighting game and not a jugs frenzy game like DOA EV2.
From the screens, it looks like a fighting game.

And Dead or Alive is a very solid fighting series, so I expect good things.w

Dead or Alive does have male characters, you know people!
I know, its one of my favourites fighting games, although the developers dont seem to actually know that. They are the ones who keep making this game a jug fest and I cant blame the people that say that the jugs are one of the games signature, that is how they designed it. So sad... because of that its rare to see someone take the game seriously.

Well, these are assumedly release games they're focusing on, and hardcore RPGs don't tend to be among the release games for any console.

All kidding aside, when they release a sequel to "The World Ends With You", a "Shin Megami Tensei" game, or even a "Final Fantasy" in 3d I'll be interested. Very few of those games really capture my imagination. That said, I *AM* looking forward to the release of the 3DS, already trying to put some money away to buy one.
A TWEWY sequel would be fantastic. Final Fantasy V and VI remade in 3D are probably to be expected.

I should try to get some more time into Persona 3. I've liked it so far, but the dungeon crawling is bound to get a bit stale sooner or later... unless the game is up to the challenge of proving me wrong, which I hope.

As impressive this new DS is looking, I'm going to hold off buying it until there are some real must-have titles. I also want to know the price of the games. If it's like the early PSP days at $50 a pop, no amount of hype is going to convince me that I need one. I'll just stick with full console titles and PC games if that's what it's going to cost me. My DSl works fine thankyouverymuch.

I'm still going to use it, but the fact that they can't prove that scientist wrong if he's wrong, or right if he's right, kind of proves that not enough research has been done on this...

It would be sort of irresponsible to have a child testing the theory in order to possibly find out whether or not it holds any water.

It would be even more irresponsible to have enough children doing it to have fairly conclusive evidence.

Plus, it would take years, and modern 3D technology is still in development.

My thoughts exactly. Plus I don't understand why they can't just turn the 3D effect off for children younger than that if they are concerned and just let them play in 2D. But yeah, I'm more worried about it possibly having a negative effect on people older than that beyond the headaches 3D is already known to give you.

January 10th is my bday :D

I can tell EVERYONE that playing any type of DS for too long will cause a seizure. I have had one while playing my Nintendo DS. and that was the last seizure I had too! *knock knock knocks on wood*

I think 3D stuff is overrated. if I want to see it in 3D I'll go to the IMAX 3D theater in town. that thing is 3 stories tall!! and 3D games will scare me...

I sure hope they keep the #DS the same size as the DSI XL, that size was a godsend, we need to making these screens bigger, not smaller it gets hard on the eyes.
Pretty sure it's similar in size to the standard DSi. The screen is slightly bigger, however.

Oh look, another release of Ocarina of Time.

Aside from the Professor Layton game, my interest in the thing is rather lacking. Probably won't bother with it at all unless they release the Layton/Wright crossover State-side.

It can be turned off by use of a slider on the side of it.

But they can't expect people under six to be responsible enough to not touch it, and that when they do, the parents won't sue. They could allow for a parental control like system to lock it, but honestly, if you're not even 6 years old, you probably have no business using a 3DS, and if you do, just ignore them and use it with the 3D turned off, it has the On/Off function, they just say "don't use it at all" to cover their asses.

The redone 64 games in 3D could be fun (Looking at you, StarFox 64), but the two games I'm really looking at for the 3DS that will make me buy one aren't listed. Though, really, as soon as Paper Mario is confirmed to have a release date, I'll snag one.

I'm really looking forward to playing Ocarina of Time.
I've never played it before, and I've heard great things about it.
As for other games on that list, they've got Riiiiiiiiidge Racer! In Threeeeeeeeeeeeeeee D!

The line up is looking good though
It is confirmed to have backwards compatibility.

I wish these games were launch titles. Though I think it might be dangerous to play some of those games on the bus... Paper Mario on the bus and I might end up a place I've never been before...
