You know up till now with Project Cafe I've been hearing a lot about a new console and how it would trump all the current ones on the market. But after today I'm a bit confused, I mean where is Nintendo Beam? and to think we were complaining about that name instead of what we really got....lol

I'm really confused, is this Wii U it? Or is this just a peripheral for the new console? Plus these questions:

-What on Gods green earth made you decide to not only come up with a worse name than the Wii, but make it sound more ridiculous. Sounds like piss trying to make a U-turn..WTF?

(I guess it's metaphorical in a way, like pissing in the wind expecting something good..lol)

-Why should I care if its third party titles plays games that my PS3/360 is already capable of?

-Does it need to be attached to an actual Wii to play it on TV?

-Does it even attach to a TV?

-Does it attach to a Wii at all?

-Do I have the wrong picture here, is the Wii U a total stand alone console?

-Or do I have to own a Wii to use to?

You know, I really thought this new console could revive my interest in Nintendo since it's been practically dead since the SNES era. I heard a lot of people here speak against the idea of feeling that way, and if this is it, you people were right.

I guess PSVITA (not as bad a name as people want to make it out to be) is all I have to look forward to right now.

The Wii U is a stand alone HD console that can use Wiimotes, but also has that massive controller with the screen that you saw. It should be backwards compatable with Wii games, and the controller can actually be used seperate from the system to play games.

It is a stand alone console. It is backwards compatible with the Wii. Yes, it attaches to a TV. The Handheld tablet you saw, is the controller. It has a solid third party supported launch.
It does not in anyway involve the Wii outside of backwards compatibility.

It's a new console.
(Think Wii 2)
It's like the Gameboy Color was for the Gameboy.

Why would it attach to the old Wii?

The thing with the screen is just the controller, the actual console probably send the images to the controller when you play on the small screen. You can switch between the small screen on the controller and the TV with a button when someone else wants to watch TV.

Basically that, yes.

It is a new console with that controller.
You do not need a Wii to use it.
It can use every Wii peripheral device.
It attaches to the TV and has HD video output.

they have a few specifications here
I wish they would put an internal hard drive in already, unless these new disks are truly amazing.

If it's backwards compatible with the Wii, will it be able to play Wii games in HD? Because Wii emulators can make the graphics really better somehow. So I heard.

The Wii U is cafe. You can see it by the TV in the trailer. It looks like a horizontal, rounded Wii.

It has graphical capability above the PS360. We've known that for a while, and from that information it is pretty clear that the controller would be the focus.

It is backwards compatible for the Wii, the Wii remote, and all Wii peripherals. This means you don't need to buy multiples of what is going to be the most expensive controller known to man...unless you want to.

The controller features are:

A touch screen with any use imaginable--multiple perspectives, easy-access menus, or playing on the controller instead of the screen (this can work in local multiplayer as well). It's also used in augmented reality gameplay--using it as the tee in a wii golf game and attaching it as a scope on a wii zapper were both displayed in the trailer.

The console will have browsing and a sketch pad. Both can be done on the controller or connected to the TV.

There will be more "hardcore" games.

Although no online details were given, it sounds like it will be, well, good this time.

This is a new console. They focused on the controller because that is the big feature. Really, it's not that confusing.

Edit: And for the record, I've seen a lot of people trying their hand at wit with comments like "Hey, look, Nintendo's finally made a current-gen console". This is not current-gen, this is the first of the next-generation.

All joking aside, using language like that and don't be surprised if you never make it to a 100 post on the site...just saying!

It's a new console altogether, they just fucked up with the name so it's confusing a lot of people into thinking that Cafe is just a new peripheral for the Wii. But Cafe is a new console (that can run games in 1080p and supports memory via an HDD).
