Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but what the fuck are you supposed to do if you're playing with the switch docked? Do you need extension cords to get the cables from your docked switch to your couch? More adapters?

fair enough. i still think Nintendo gamers and gamers in general have a right to get worked up about this though because Voice chat is one of the mosic basic online features that has been part of gaming for about 15 years across 3 generations of consoles and yet Nintendo STILL can't get it right in 2017
There are a lot of things Nintendo should be able to get right in 2017 but refuse to. This is just one of them.
meh. online services with Voice chat being the main feature of Nintendo Consoles is the only thing about Nintendo that really pisses me off. otherwise they're pretty alright in all the other areas for what i want.

Basically i'd be fine if Nintendo consoles were kept the same as they are, even with slow releasing games like on Wii U. all i want is a simple Nintendo console with online services to be on par or better than Xbox Live. that's it. not asking for much.

i don't even mind too much when Nintendo goes through long drought periods because during those times it helps to not have heaps of games i want coming out because it lets me save up for my future purchases AND at the same time it also let's me go back and catch up on some of the Retro games i've wanted but missed out on. just last month i bought Zelda Four Swords Adventures for the Gamecube, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance also on Gamecube and Mario Party 3 for the N64. i also currently have plans to buy myself Kirby Air Ride for the Gamecube as well because i've already paid off Arms and at this point in time it's just Splatoon 2, Xenoblade and Mario Odyssey i have to pay off and those last 2 i mentioned aren't coming out for ages.
You mean despite the Switches design flaws that I've read about?
such as?

i would be fine if the only thing different about Switch were if it were the same but with an online service either equal to or better than xbox live
The ones that come immediately to mind are the placement of the charger port on the console's screen. Also apparently the paddles have reception problems.

that's not a hardware issue. that's an issue to do with the shipping and packing of the console. besides. get a plastic screen protector for a couple of bucks and you're fine. my Switch hasn't had one scratch on it.

besides, you'd have to be pretty stupid to be carrying a really expensive tablet like the Switch, an iphone, ipad or literally any other handheld console or device around all the time with you and not even getting yourself a simple screen protector. that's just common sense.

Unlike the Xbox one and PS4, 3rd party wireless controllers can connect to Nintendo systems.

You don't consider it a massive fuck up that this defect wasn't corrected before release and thus you have to turn to a 3rd party solution in order to play the thing properly?

Maybe a little bit, but they don't have the same kind of control over the market Apple has. Apple would be the ones to say "you don't want voice chat" and then suddenly millions of people decide they don't want voice chat any more. Nintendo have been forced by the market to include voice chat, apparently kicking and screaming based on their aversion to just doing it normally.

That's the thing, Nintendo is the opposite of Apple. The Switch uses a Micro SD card, its Charged by USB C and the Joy Cons pair to a computer with out a stupid dongle. Apparently the Switch isn't that closed off because 8bitdo has updated their Oldschool line of controllers to work with the Switch. If this was apple you would have to buy the stupid HD rumble joy cons(80) or the Pro Controller(70). You can get controllers that are wireless from 8bitdo for 37 bucks that have dual analog. Also you can't buy 3rd party wireless controllers for the X1 and PS4.

Nintendo nails some really great user friendly things but they just do really weird asinine design choices that the industry has stopped doing.
I was referring to Apple and Nintendo's same use of ideas (where it feels like they just use whatever idea they feel like, no matter how silly and convoluted it is because they feel like they know more than everyone else; see those awful "Wireless Headphones" that Apple decided to do and removed the jack so that you HAD to use their idea).

Sometimes their goofy ideas pay off in a big way (See The Wii) but most of the time, we end up with stuff like this...
At least Apple makes their products actually available. I have yet to even see a Switch on a shelf since launch. Many stores in my local area have told me that they have yet to see a restock.

That's what I was thinking. Should be a red flag right off the bat when third party is better than what comes in the box. Nintendo is supposed to be known for quality too. I guess that Seal doesn't mean much now that Miyamoto is probably the only one left who knows anything about games. Make him CEO or whatever and get it together.

if you don't protect things they get damaged.

that isn't a Nintendo thing, that's literally everything. why do think a thing called Mint Condition exists?

In 2 pages of everyone talking about how Nintendo designs things, pro and con, no one has mentioned that Nintendo didn't design this at all. This is a third party headset made by Hori.

Things indeed get damaged, very good.
It takes a special kind of negligence when you manufacture both a chargeable product and a charging station that can damage it simply by following the instructions. Just because you can duct-tape the problem doesn't mean it's good design, and just because it's not a problem to you doesn't mean it's not a problem with thousands of others.

Did I not say that it's the latest in a long line of Nintendo's fuck ups? I'm just not going to get all worked up over a feature I'd never use.
fair enough. i still think Nintendo gamers and gamers in general have a right to get worked up about this though because Voice chat is one of the mosic basic online features that has been part of gaming for about 15 years across 3 generations of consoles and yet Nintendo STILL can't get it right in 2017
There are a lot of things Nintendo should be able to get right in 2017 but refuse to.

The paddles having reception problems are apparently a Defect with the controller, Im using a 3rd party controller with out any problems.

Unlike the Xbox one and PS4, 3rd party wireless controllers can connect to Nintendo systems.
You don't consider it a massive fuck up that this defect wasn't corrected before release and thus you have to turn to a 3rd party solution in order to play the thing properly?
I should've been more descriptive with my post, the 3rd party controller wasn't a stop gap because my controllers didn't work. My Joy cons work fine and if your Joy cons don't work you can send them into Nintendo to get them fix. I was trying to point out that controller connectivity in the system is good enough to even work with 3rd party controllers. Oddly enough you don't need a Blue tooth dongle to Connect Joy cons to a PC compared to the PS4 remote and X1 remotes.

Don't forget the dock scratching the screen.
that's not a hardware issue. that's an issue to do with the shipping and packing of the console. besides. get a plastic screen protector for a couple of bucks and you're fine. my Switch hasn't had one scratch on it.

besides, you'd have to be pretty stupid to be carrying a really expensive tablet like the Switch, an iphone, ipad or literally any other handheld console or device around all the time with you and not even getting yourself a simple screen protector. that's just common sense.
You're not suggesting people would be stupid for trusting the quality of a Nintendo product?
if you don't protect things they get damaged.

that isn't a Nintendo thing, that's literally everything. why do think a thing called Mint Condition exists?
Things indeed get damaged, very good.
It takes a special kind of negligence when you manufacture both a chargeable product and a charging station that can damage it simply by following the instructions. Just because you can duct-tape the problem doesn't mean it's good design, and just because it's not a problem to you doesn't mean it's not a problem with thousands of others.
guess that means pretty much all tablets and smartphones have shit designs too then since there's an extremely high chance of the screens shattering even with a screen protector on.

but nah let's just have a massive carry on about some tiny scratches that were reported when this console first released though. after all, it's only not ok when Nintendo isn't 100% perfect.

I'm not a big voice chat guy, so this doesn't mean much to me. If I was, this might be a deal breaker. That's just way too work. to go through every time you want to voice chat.

In 2 pages of everyone talking about how Nintendo designs things, pro and con, no one has mentioned that Nintendo didn't design this at all. This is a third party headset made by Hori.
Sure its a 3rd party accessory but it exists to address a problem created by the absolute idiots in nintendo.

There will be a app for your phone by Nintendo for Voice chat. It looks like this is how voice chat will work for the switch and the head phones shown in the Picture will be in Spatoon 2 the game. This is a little bit more then just a 3rd party making accessories for the switch.
