Could anyone tell me what they think of the Wii and the Virtual Console please? :)

Looking in to getting a Wii for Virtual Console, a few games(Zelda, Madworld and Final Fantasy) and the Browser.

Thanks in advance :)

The Virtual Console, as a whole, has some pretty good selections of Retro Games. Except for the fact that there is no EarthBound.. I'm Waiting Nintendo...

N64 games don't work well with the classic controller, tried Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 and they can get irritating.

All of the Art Style games are fantastic fun, Bit.Trip Beat is good too. Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2...so much good stuff on there.

I love it. WiiWare is also great
May I be a noob and ask what that is? :p
WiiWare is similar to the VC, but its games where they wouldn't do good in retail(which I think most can). The Strongbad series are great, Bit.Beat.Trip is fantastic and Dr Mario Online is fun.

Exactly. World of Goo is great and with friends, its a blast. The online games like Super Smash Bros Brawl(Which RARELY lags for me),Mariokart Wii and Pokemon Battle Revolution are a blast online. The Classic controller takes some time to get used to for the N64 games.

The Virtual Console is awesome.
Playing Super Mario RPG again (a game I've never owned until VC) is pretty much awesome.
I was also under the impression they may port Final Fantasy IV: The After to VC as well, which would be great.

*edit*
Oops, forgot:
The VC seems to be what keeps gamers like me from throwing my Wii out of a two story building.
No More Heroes and the occasional round of SSB:B is fun with friends but my Wii sees no play time unless it's the Virtual Console.

works fine for me, but if its that much of a problem buy a gamecube controller, I'm sure you could find a second hand one, if not, there are numerous third party gamecube controllers that I've seen.

I've gone wild on the VC recently, Link to the Past, Yoshi's Story, Pokemon Snap, OoT, Mario64.
All games I never got to play, not owning a NES SNES N64 etc. so finally being able to is great.

They're doable, but they could've ported the controls better. The right joystick becoming the yellow buttons is kind of a pain. I never played these things when they first came out so maybe it's just me.

Ahh cool. So, worth it? Not worth it?
If you love classic games it is definitely worth it. Be warned out of the 3, it does have some of the longest dry spells between good game releases. VC and Wiiware games are really fun though, and it's especially worth it to get 4 controllers for it as it's a great system to play when you have people over.

I enjoy it immensely when I get to play it (I don't own one myself, my parents do in another state). I highly recommend it unless you already own a PS3 or a 360 and a computer, and even then it's not a bad choice.

the wii is good system. i do think the wii's game library is the worst of any of the console out today,[in my opinion] it is a nice change of pace in gaming. the virtual console is nice but as large as i hope it would be. i got some old neo geo games that i could find for cheap. Plus ys 1 and 2. i think the wii is great for parties. its great as secondary system to the ps3/and or the 360.

I like the Wii. The VC also has a good collection, and what GameCube games you can't find on it can easily be purchased over Amazon for a low tag. Instead of getting Final Fantasy, you should look into getting No More Heroes, Metroid, or Mario Galaxy. They are all a grand step better than FF:Crystal Chronicles and similar titles.

The first thing I did when I got the Wii (after getting a few select Wii titles, of course) was to immediately get Skies of Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, and Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door for the GC - along with a GC controller and memory card, which both plug into the Wii.

The Wii is definitely worth the money. It may not have as many good games as the 360 and PS3, but the good games it does have are arguably some of the best games to come out in this generation. Virtual Console is also great, especially if you're like me and lost a lot of great games somewhere during your childhood. I don't have very many WiiWare games that don't have "Strong Bad" in the title, but there should be some good games out for it soon. The Internet Channel is pretty convenient if you have a USB keyboard to plug into the Wii.

And it looks like you're looking into the right games to get. You won't be disappointed with MadWorld and Twilight Princess (although I'd recommend the Gamecube version of this.)
