Nintendo Wii: my expensive paperweight

For almost a year now my Nintendo Wii has been sitting in a corner gathering dust. Ever since the novlety of Super Smash wore off, their have been no big name titles to reach the system. Walking through EB games, I'm confronted by Wii Fit, and Wii Music, but those titles are not for me, but that new causal market, which Nintendo seems to cater to exclusively. I really hope that Nintendo, starts to look out for its tue fans, the ones that suffered for many years under what we now call "the gamecube era". 2009's new releases do not give me any hope, on this drought of "hardcore" games situation.

Dear Nintendo, You have expanded your consumer base now, Fix your online system, release more games that do not include 1. fitness (I'll go outside) 2. Hannah Montana

Homebrew is the only thing keeping my Wii alive. Doom and SNES will never get old for me.

No More Heroes was good. I'm looking forward to the second in that series. Madworld also looks nice.

But in general I agree with you. I was forced to buy a 360 as well to satiate my gaming needs.

I agree. After Zelda and Smash Brothers it's just been a never-ending flow of casual stuff with a few "hardcore" gems. I like the idea of more people playing games, but it seems like Nintendo doesn't care about the Nintendo faithful anymore, just the money they can get from everyone else.

Enh, that's how I feel about my 360.

I'm pretty sure if I owned a PS3 I'd treat it that way, too (well, maybe it would see some life as a BluRay player).

The last console I actually enjoyed using was the PS2.

And that's why my brother owns a Wii, and I own a 360. But know, aside from SSBB, I can't remember anytime in the past half a year when I actually used the Wii. Granted, played a lot of Brawl, mostly while drunk, but still, that's pretty bad.

How about we stick with "games I like" and "games I don't like"?

I'm quite sure that you wouldn't be any happier if they made a bunch of "hardcore" games that you still didn't like.

No More Heroes didn't sell too well. If you put a "hard core" title on a system designed for people who like Cooking Mama chances are it might not sell too well.

I own a 360 and a PS3 but I refuse to buy a Wii it's always been an expensive board game in my eye's and I'm not into casual games. Plus Nintendo totally turned on the people that kept them alive all these years (hardcore gamers) only to go off and cater to the type of gamers that won't sustain the video game industry cause they only buy maybe three or five games a year cause there CASUAL GAMERS! or so the NPD say's anyway.

I think Nintendo can, will and has forgotten the hardcore market. They are making a huge pile of cash out of a market that barely existed just a few years ago.

What I find most interesting is that Nintendo is now charging people money for games they used to play for FREE! I think If I gathered a few flash games up, got them to work with the wii-mote, they would be very familiar to what Nintendo is doing now.

Nintendo's only commitment to their fans is their mascot games, like Super Smash Brothers, Mario galaxy, Mario Kart etc. Though expect them to innovate little if not at all. Mario cart is still the same, and Mario galaxy still plays like Mario 64 (Nintendo last true innovation in game play) and why? Because it makes big dollars, And to change anything would be too risky.

Its something I can laugh at the fan boys about. Yes, its the hottest gaming machine on the market, but your traditional Nintendo fanboy is left high and dry when it comes to games.
