Posting this to get everyone's opinion. I'm really liking the controller, even if it's a rip off of the xbox 360 controller. I can't wait to see more on the Wii U at E3 but this controller looks great. It seems we will actually be able to play the new games coming out normally instead of using the motion sensor controllers. Here is the article describing more, let me know if you are excited for it.

A lot of my FB friends are criticising it saying "omg Nintendo never fails to disappoint", but I think it's a pretty welcome feature. It will mean you can play standard "core-games" without having to tether a "classic controller" to your wiimote (which is retarded, I assumed it was an independent controller when I bought it with Monster Hunter) or using that clunky tablet thing. the only complaint I have is that the buttons and sticks seem to have switched places, which might take a little getting used to.

Seems like Nintendo is finally saying "hey look! you can play normal games to!", which makes sense, considering the main criticism of the Wii was that it didn't play a lot of standard (non motion-control) games very well.

So for once Nintendo will actually make sensible controllers, we usually had to wait for third party companies to bring that.

What? N64 controller was ok, and GC controller was one of the best ever.
Yeah I agree Anoni, I liked the N64 controller and I loved the GC controller. But as of recently, yes I'm glad Nintendo decided to go back to its roots and go with a normal looking and functioning controller.

Choice of controllers. Nice one. Makes me wonder if the screen will be largely a pointless addition to most games.

I criticized the tablet controller for being way too freaking big, but I can get behind this one. Minus creativity points for looking a crapton like the 360 controller, but at least it's not making my lady hands cry. It will take some getting used to for the ABXY buttons being below the thumbstick, but none of that is a dealbreaker. I loved the Gamecube controller, so hopefully it will feel more like that in my hands.

The layout is horrible, I really don't know what to think of this apart from that.

I think it looks pretty good. Yeah, it looks like the 360 controller but the 360 controller is the shape it is because it's very ergonomic, so it should feel great to hold. It's a bit unusual to see that both sticks are on the top row though. Have there ever even been any 1st party controllers with 2 sticks on the top? I think that arrangement may feel strange at first but it'll be easy to get used to.

And screw the people saying the whole presentation was a failure. It was good and Nintendo have got some interesting ideas. The people who are nay-saying are just people who have already made up their mind that the WiiU would be a failure long before they even announced it.

Seems like a good idea, not too keen on the button layout though. Maybe some 3rd party controllers can fix that problem?

I was thinking the same thing. If the screen was such a vital feature, the Pro controller wouldn't be an option.

OT: I like it. The swapping of the face buttons and sticks is going to be hella confusing at first but I'm really looking forward to the Wii U now. Dammit, still can't say the name out loud without cracking up, though.

I guess they, quite rightly, realized that they weren't going to win any core gamer fans with the tablet controller given how large and awkward it looked.

Honestly though, this news means literally nothing to me in terms of my Wii U interest level. In another year or two it's probably going to be the underpowered console of the bunch with a gimmick that no one knows how to use effectively while core gamers will have moved on to other things. I really only see the Nintendo faithful getting any benefit from this controllers existence.

And that's assuming they can get beyond what looks to be the worst button layout I've ever laid eyes on.

I'm still excited for the console itself. I think the only thing that will bother me at first is seeing the control stick above the buttons, but I think that it will be easy to get used to. And I'm glad nintendo is providing for the "core" fans.

What are you talking about? The GCN had the best controllers of that generation!

OT: Looks pretty good, I'm not too sure about the arrangement of that second analog sick and the face buttons though.

Seems like a nice controller for shooters, and if it has a decent D-pad it should be good for fighting games. I'm really glad they designed it more like the xbox 360 controller instead of the dualshock. Hopefully all of Nintendo's games will support it instead of forcing us to dick around with the tablet screen.

I've had an idea:

How about Nintendo fuck their stupid wiimote and tablet useless 'controllers' off, and instead make the 'pro' controller the default and drop the price of the Wii U down since they're not using a bloody screen as a controller now?

At least that controller looks comfortable.
