it would be very interesting to see what valve would do with nintendo's odd controllers, they seem to like to toy with tech as much as nintendo does
Since when? They didn't do anything with the Move or Kinect. Valve have never embraced non traditional control methods.
*ahem* [http://store.steampowered.com/app/901666/]

OT: Wow. Winning over Valve would definitely show that Nintendo is trying to take 3rd-party support seriously. It would also be pretty awesome to put Half-Life 2: Episode 3 next to The Legend of Zelda and say "I can play those games on the same system".

Why can't I delete posts Escapist? This double-posting nonsense is getting out-of-hand.

Damn. Now I may have to get this system if it gets a Valve exclusive.
Where did you see the word exclusive in there? THe odds of Valve giving Nintendo an exclusive game are a billion to zero.

by toy with tech I ment toy with odd ideas of in game stuff that no one else really tried out but there is also this

Lol. Steamworks? On a console? Yeah... I don't see that happening.

Yet at the same time, assuming Nintendo don't screw up their online systems altogether (again), I'm assuming they won't be as boneheaded as Microsoft is with regards to allowing updates...

Wasn't most of this done by the people who made the peripheral, not Valve?

Also: Why is your avatar molesting a vase?
its a lute and hes playing if beautifully, all I know is that once they announced the portal 2 stuff more then a few people got butt hurt since it required an expensive peripheral, besides if anyone besides nintendo could use nintendo's weird controllers in really cool ways it would be valve

Yes! Yes! I want to see this developer collab happen! A decent Nintendo console with amazing Valve games would be great. If they allowed Steamworks, best console ever!

EDIT: I'm exaggerating a little... but this would be a MAJOR selling point in the WiiU's favor for me. :D

Headline translates to: Game Developer congratulates Nintendo on not making a complete piece of shit.

AND IF PORTAL THREE COMES OUT BEFORE HL3 I SWEAR TO GOD I AM BURNING VALVE HQ DOWN.

I think it would do well for stealth-oriented games. You could have the screen show whatever your hacked-camera/bug is seeing as just one application. I'm not the creative type, so that's my only contribution ...

OT: Good for them. Now hurry up and make a monster hunter with the power of a ps3/wii u ... no I'm serious, make me a freaking huge monster hunter game.

Anyway, IMO the WiiU is crap so I wont get it.
Reserve your premature and thus fairly baseless judgement for when it actually gets released and we know what kind of games we'll see for it hm? I mean good heavens it's just been announced, we've just been told the rough technical specs and seen some snippets for games that are going to be released on the WiiU.

But I do share your faith in Valve. If any developer can do something interesting with that controller, it's Valve.

Well, I've highlighted IN MY OPINION for a reason.
You know, I hate Mario, Zelda, Metroid and so on. I know they are important games and I loved them ten years ago. But Nintendo just can't do anything new. And what the NDS and Wii teached me is that there weren't many quality games beside those.
In short:
I'm not part of the audience. I'm no Nintendo fan and over the last years turned more into a hater. But not the "trollish" sort of hater. I have no problems with people disagreeing with me, as long as they don't have a problem with disagreeing with me.
First and foremost; the DS has a humongous game library. I mean really, even besides shovelware.

But ignoring all the current stuff; they've cleary stated that they want to get the 'hardcore' audience back. Hence why I'm saying; reserve your judgement. They wanted to reach a new audience with the Wii and triumphed in that regard. They're good at analysing what their targer audience wants, and now they're shifting (shifting back, if you will) to, well, us, that is next to the audience they won over with the Wii.

Hence why I say; wait a bit with your judgement. They want to try to get us back, lets wait and see what they're going to do to accomplish that.

And don't forget: opinions ain't holy, they can still be silly or even stupid.

An adventure game would be interesting on the WiiU's tablet, for drawing landmarks and such ala Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks.
However, looking at VALVe's history (Half-Life 1/2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 1/2) I don't really see anything being enriched by a touch screen.

Maybe not by the touch screen side of things, but it would be cool to aim down the barrel by using the Wiiu tablet screen.
