This is getting ridiculous...
Yes, it's no surprise that Ninten-DO-IT-ALL-OVER-AGAIN-FOR-THE-NEXT-BAJILLION-YEARS is, yet again, cashing in on their core franchises, but goodness gracious. How can you people not be tired of this crap?!
The "NEW" (haw, they actually had the nerve to put the word "NEW" in the title) Super Mario Bros. Wii, for instance, is probably one of THE biggest examples of their laziness.
1. It's basically a Wii-ed up version of the DS version.
2. There's literally next to NO new real additions. Unless you count being able to play with Yoshi for a few levels and a couple power-ups(One of which is completely useless due to another power-up).
3. The single actual new idea they decided to implement, the multiplayer, has no online, and only allows 2 of the total 4 players to play as an interesting character(Sorry, but there's just no excuse when they have so many other awesome charcters that could of been used in place of at least 1 of the Toads- Like Daisy, Peach, Wario, Waluigi, Birdo (maybe), and so on)
4. It can be beat in far less than a day. By yourself even.
The list goes on.
And I'm sure that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will do no better. It's even got a lame and boring and generic number 2 on it! I don't recall Nintendo EVER taking their core Mario series so lightly.
Over and over and over and over and over again, you all throw your money at these people just for flashing a few of your childhood favorites for a bit. That can be said for pretty much all of Nintendo's top sellers though. And really, I can't blame them.
Whenever Nintendo tries to actually do something different, everyone throws a giant hissy-fit, and cries, and screams, and whines, and complains.
Super Mario Sunshine was not that bad. Yes the cinematics and voice acting awful, and the camera was less than stellar, but still! The game was so bright and colorful and fresh and fun. The environments and characters and levels were all so fresh and lovable, that you couldn't help but look past it's flaws and just have fun with the whole thing.
The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker is an even better example. It was the ONLY Zelda game beyond the awesome and ground breaking(if terribly overrated)Ocarina of Time to actually do something really new with the franchise. The first one to really move things forward. The charcters, the art style, the story, all of it was actually advancing the concept. No, it wasn't perfect. And yes, sailing around did get boring. But at least it actually gave the impression that you were on this giant and epic adventure.
But of course, these 2 games were mostly hated. The gamecube in general caused quite a fuss, despite it being the only console of its generation to really be all that enjoyable (though the PS2 did have some cool stuff, like the first Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank, plus some great later games).
And then comes The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess - a lame rehash of Ocarina of Time - and people love it! Super Mario Galaxy comes along, and though it was somewhat well recieved, there's still a bit more hate for it than their should of been.
And also considering the fact that the Wii has made it to the top by exploiting the niavety of newcomers to the game industry (You know, the Wii Fitness stuff and the terribly made third-party stuff), well, it's really no surprise.
It's weird too, because I like Nintendo for being the only company willing to really try anything different, or fill it's games with colors other than Gunmetal Gray and Dirty Dirt Dirt Brown. And also for being big enough to try something new with their console, like the whole motion sensing thing. And to also focus on things other than graphics with their games.
But ah well, as with any buisiness, they exist to create and distribute value, and to be paid for it, and use that money to create and distribute more value, and continue the cycle. So hey, if they can still get the money without having to do the work to create something truly valuable, then who can blame them?
It's not as if Sony and Microsoft, what with their giant manly-man-gotta-fill-it-all-with-bloom-and-guns-and-focus-more-on-online-rather-than-the-game-itself mind set on games, have been giving them much competition in that area. And a lack of competition is not good, for just about ANY business. Yeah, Sony and Microsoft are starting to try, but really, they've just been trying to copy what Nintendo has done, and trying to one-up them. And considering the fact that Nintendo has already made a HUGE dent in that particular area, it's going to be kind of hard. Like, really hard.

But what are YOUR thoughts on the whole thing?
EDIT: Darn it... Yahtzee beat me to the punch... Curses...
