I remember playing these games on an Amiga when I was a kid, I actually had a demo diskette that came with a magazine and I remember having a lot of fun with just a few levels.

Navigating through jungles, watching out for deadly spikes, traversing through water and killing countless little soldiers made me feel like I was playing a Rambo game, wich I also had and Cannon Fodder was WAY better than the actual Rambo game.

Not releasing the game to international territories might be a bad idea, I hope Codemasters think otherwise and release them over Steam and XBLA for everyone to enjoy.

If this doesn't get realised outside Russia.

I'm going to do to Codmeasters what Level 7 in the original Cannon Fodder does to everyone.

I really don't care. I started learning Russian because as time goes on I'm playing more and more Ruskie games.

And yet, it was Final Fantasy VII that made the series big in the West. :p
a surprisingly boring RPG to me

won't say about it's quality, because saying it was a bad game is incredibly stupid and also a huge lie, because it is a very good game

but it's just, like some switch flipped off in me and just stopped enjoying the series like I did with the SNES and NES ones
Well, naturally, you are free to think of any game what you want. While I am fan of Final Fantasy VII, I do recognise the fact that it is certainly not flawless and certainly not for everyone.

The point I was trying to make is that cutting off with VI would have been a terrible (financial) decision on Square's part, since it was VII that caused the popularity of the series to explode in the West. As brilliant as VI was, it sadly just did not resonate with the mass market. =(

I've always wondered how it should feel to have an anticipated game announced for your region only and to read all the fans from abroad say how this is unfair and stupid.
Feels okay, I guess.

yet, if it would have happened, we would have been saved from Sephiroth and Cloud, eliminating any chance of a fangirl/fanboy upris-

let's pretend I didn't said that...

don't mind me, I'm just planning my next journey back in time

in all seriousness, yeah, they're a company after all, they're supposed to be after money

kind of ironic too, that their first Final Fantasy game was called like that because it was supposed to be their very last game

I'd be utterly amazed if they didn't spend the time to translate the text into english at least and slap it on Steam for like $5-10, It's a licence to print money with all the retro freaks. (Yes I am one)

If it's only made available in one region, I predict a fan translation and massive levels of piracy, so I'd suggest they get to it before the community does :)

Countdown to fan translation...
This is right on the money. It doesn't matter if they never release it outside of Russia, it'll be on the internet in hours and fan translated a few days later, a few weeks at most.

This is also right on the money, it would make a fortune on Steam, they'd be daft not to do it.

I hate Codemasters, partially how they dealt with Bohemia Interactive, but keeping a game region locked is always a bad idea when it comes to profits.

just imagine if MGS or Final Fantasy never got released anywhere else than Japan........

wait...........that sounds pretty awesome, actually.
Apparently Final Fantasy is nowhere near as popular in Japan as Dragon Quest. Actually i have sometimes gotten the impression that FF would be dead by now if it had been Japan-only (Square might be dead, leaving Enix on the top).

OT: Don't know this game, but keeping a game locked in one language is never a smart idea, especially if its predecessors have been popular outside of the country of origin.

If it had different stages of development involving one level then it was Amiga power. There was one map and 4 levels of development that showed how a map evolved from a simple set of blocks to the finished product. Damn I loved and miss sensible software they where to Amiga gaming what Valve is to PC Gaming today.

Aaaaaaaaaaaah, Sensible Software, Amiga Power's favourite people. I miss 'em both, so I do!

Just remembered I'm about halfway through Cannon Fodder on the Amiga, haven't played it in nearly a year, gotta grab that emulator back off my bro's PC.

Also, I'd never be able to finish this game on a real Amiga, not without a body count of several thousand. Savestates FTW!
