I remember the movie tie in games we got for Lord of the Rings. They were actually really enjoyable and decent games.

Somewhat surprised we haven't got them for the Hobbit since there's 3 pillars of gameplay we could have for the Hobbit - stealth as Bilbo, magic as Gandalf and combat as Thorin.

Loads of sequences in the films would actually make a really decent game.

Why are Warner so crap with their Lord of the Rings franchise and making games for it?

Isn't there are a Lego Hobbit game coming out sometime next year? They're usually pretty good games.

There are couple games that bears the name, don't know anything else from them.
Both from Kabam, and f2p tho, which isn't a good sign.

Well, there was a Hobbit game for the Gamecube, PC, Xbox, and PS2 about a decade ago. It actually had some stealth in it, even, though those parts are probably some of the most frustrating even when held up against the platforming. It's not a great game, but I had a lot of fun with it (PC version is really unstable though).

But, really, Warner have been pretty crap with most of their franchises in video game format. They're damn lucky Rocksteady wanted to helm the Arkham games at first, they've practically run Scribblenauts into the ground, and let's look at all of the LotR games they've released in the past few years that weren't the MMO or LEGO games?

In fact, the LEGO games have pretty much been the only things consistently damn good actually coming from them.

They probably don't want to risk any competition for that game coming out next year. Shadow of Mordor or something like that. Looks like they want to make another Batman Arkham Asylum and get a full series out of it.

Also, the movie based LOTR games were amazing.

I agree, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King was pretty good.

And it's kind of true, I think the only proper games of the Hobbit will probably be LEGO games. But it's really difficult to make a game based on a movie, usually there's too much story-telling in the form of dialogue. While games with a good story are great, they need combat too.

It's good they aren't making a game for the Hobbit the other LOTR games were ok and not worth continuing so saves them wasting time on making sub-par products.
