Isn't base building kind of pointless in a game that erases the majority of the changes you make to a planet once you leave? It's one of the things that made me not want to get the game. It makes it seem like nothing you do matters to the galaxy. Maybe that's their way of representing the nihilistic nature of what humanity's mark on the universe will be, but it's more interesting to think about than to play.

I take everything that this studio says with a grain of salt. For example: what do they exactly mean with foundation? That's the kind of ambiguous terminology I'd expect from Early Access games.
That's a good point. They don't actually say what the update is. They say they've added "the foundations of base building", not that they actually added base building. So aside from base building being a questionable feature for this game, they're not really saying anything at all.

Wow am I regretting getting this game at all now after looking at that patch list. It's just turning into minecraft with a much higher entry fee and just having less of a world to do it in, unless planets suddenly go deeper than 5 feet.

The biggest turn off, if that patch list is to be believed, is that Freighters can only be bought, "At great expense," which I would love to know what that means, cause I remember plenty of ships costing many millions of credits, and I wasn't even close to seeing how much the "top tier" ships cost, but it's gotta pale in comparison to a freighter.

Yeah, I'm done with this game forever. If the "foundation" they're building is just slapping minecraft onto their game, I have no interest on whatever they build on top of.

Too true. I'll be waiting for reviews of it before I go reinstalling the game anyway.
Last time I gave it a 2nd chance, it hardlocked my PS4 and corrupted a couple of other games along with it, and that was patch 1.9

I've still got it installed on my PC, but after 27 hours, at that time, I'd seen everything. I'll jump back in when this update hits and see if it's as good as they make it sound. Not going to lie, but a customisable freighter? I am intrigued.

So you will build a Base... as in the ground? as in fixed over the surface of one planet? In a game where the objetive is to reach the center of the galaxy? In a game where you became bored of planet Lousygray V after you have seen 90% of all animals, plants and rocks in less than 15 minutes?
Would not make much more sense and be more fun to have to build and upgrade a mothership? (say after you get all the basics of the game mechanics, and before it starts to get stale )
The video indicates the same base building mechanics also apply to freighters, which you can buy and call to you at any time. Not sure if you can actually pilot them, though.
