Has this ever happened to you, where you are being polite enough to ask someone permission to say, if they had just cooked a lot of food, too much for themself and it wasn't particularly obvious that they inteded to share, asked if you could have some, and they said no sarcastically.
Or when you are at work and it is slow and you ask your coworker if its okay to take your break because now is a good time and they say noooo... or if you are going to a cafe with friends or something and ask a stranger if you could borrow the seat their bag is sitting on because their bag doesn't really need a seat and they say nooooo...
since when had being polite warrented sarcasm?

anyway, my question is does it piss anyone else off when they ask a question and they are answered with a sarcastic no?

I must say I sometimes do sarcastically say no, but only to joke around and even then only among friends who would know I was kidding.

I'm usually that guy too. Though afterwards I immediately smile and usually hand them the seat or anything. Besides, why would you get pissed because someone made a joke using the wonder of sarcasm?

Politeness doesn't warrant sarcasm, you asking a person who uses sarcasm warrants sarcasm.

See, the trick is to not ask questions. It is, after all, easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

I tend to go with "NO! You can't! Dear god, what liberty, how dare you even ask?!" and shake my fist at them while making an 'angry face'.

If it's from a stranger and so you don't really know what you should do then it's annoying with friends you always know when they're just being humorus so it's alright i generally love sarcasm though it's second nature to me.
