Okay, so I finally broke-down and got a 360. After so many years of playing at friends' houses, I had bought my own Memory Unit so that I could maintain save files and achievements, rather than having a bunch of accounts all on different machines. Well anyway, I'm getting my 360 set-up, and as I look for the memory unit port... I notice it doesn't have any. Umm... what? Now yeah sure, "You should have researched this" blah blah blah, but let's be honest, without being fore-warned, who would really think "Gee, this console might not have MEMORY CARDS", especially when considering it was standard on the original design. I mean, what's next? I have to do research to make sure that a console has controller support?

Bleh... anyway, is there any way to get data from my Memory Unit onto the harddrive? The only thing I can think of right now is that I could use one of my friends' 360s to put all the data from my MU onto a flash drive. That aside though, are there any other options?

You can just use 4gb fat32 usb sticks, haven't needed proprietary cards in a couple years.

*edit just read the rest of your post. USB is the only way.

Lack of memory really shouldn't be a problem on the new 360. I think most of them have plenty of space.

Yep thats the way to do it. Xbox with mu slot then stick in on a flash drive.

I actually forgot the ole 360 still had MU's I always just carried my HD around, or flash drive once they allowed that.

Re-read the topic. The point is that I want to get my profile and saves onto my 360. I'm not worried about space (cause God knows I didn't even consider the 4gig model), I'm worried about not having to start from scratch on all my games.

I think their is a way to recover your gamertag over XBOX live. I have seen my friends do it, but I myself don't know how.

This. As long as you had a Live account (silver is ok), open the Xbox Guide (Big silver circle w/ the green X in the middle) then simply scroll to the "Recover Gamertag" option and fill in the appropriate info.

I also use this when playing on a friend's machine, it's very easy. The download is fast as long as you have a good internet connection.

Edit: Also, this is free and therefore better than buying an unnecessary flash drive.

You could get a hard drive for it. If it's the new Slim model, it should have a 250GB Hard Drive in the back. Unless if you got the 4GB version, in which case, you should just get the hard rive or Flash Drives. Any old Flash drive will work, just specify how much memory you want reserved for Xbox memory use (in your case all of the memory) when you plug it in. It automatically asks you for each different one you plug in.

Next time your at a place with an older model of the 360, move your saves from the MU to a memory stick. It's long winded, but it works :)

I think the point is thought that he wants to keep his game saves, this just takes your gamercard as it was last time you signed in. OP Yes you are going to have to go to a friends house with an old Xbox and transfer the data from your MU on a USB. It's a pain yes, but in the end I'd rather be able to use any USB as a storage device rather than having to fork out $60 for a unit that's only 512MB!

It does transfer saves. As long as the saves' gamertag has a Live account.
