No New Elder Scrolls!

Some people are talking like there will never be a new one. It doesn't mean that, it just means "not right now." We'll probably see one in the next gen of consoles.

But admittedly this news is a bit disheartening.

And yes, I am genuinely bummed out about this. Not that Oblivion was bad at all but somewhat of a disappointment if they end the series out on it.

well last info I heard was it was planed for like 2010 or 2011 on thier financial report. so I doubt anything has changed all they are saying here is dont hold your breath since it will be a couple of years at least.

Been stated in here multiple times already, but I think I'll rub it in some more.


It's not saying there won't be a new elder scrolls, or that there is likely there won't be. It's saying that they're not even nearly finished with it yet, and people need to stop getting too worked up.

If they do not make TES:V, it'll be a similar game in a new, similar world.

The article seemed to be implying more that TESV was simply down the road quite a bit, rather than that it doesn't exist. Or that at least we shouldn't be expecting any news on their next big project for quite some time. Honestly, if it takes them a while to bridge the gap between the next game being like Oblivion, a game that I spent three or four months playing before I was bored of it, as opposed to Fallout 3, one that I spent about two weeks playing, I'm perfectly willing to wait.

To be fair Oblivion is the fourth in the franchise. With fallout they are doing something new (with the same engine).

They may revisit the franchise later, yet there are rumours of new oblivion DLC, so it is not completely abandoned.

They'll make one eventually, I think he was more talking about the fact it'll be a while. The length of time between releases for the base games averages out to something like 5 years.

I have no problems with them handing it over to the mod community. They seem to accept the fact that they aren't going to do everything right, so they make it easier for people to do whatever the hell they want with it.
