As of now, I don't think LBP needs a sequal. Maybe in the next generation of consoles, as long as they keep adding updates and DLC to it.

Considering the type of game, not doing a sequel is definitely a good thing.
A sequel would most likely turn out to be a slightly improved version, a goal much better achieved through updating the original like they are doing.
I do expect a sequel, but for the next generation Sony console, when it makes sense.
