I just finished building my first gaming PC from scratch, but I have a annoying problem. The power source doesn't seem to be receiving any power. None of the components are powering up, the power source itself isn't making any noise or putting off any light. Is it just a dud part or could I have done something wrong? It's a GS800 by Corsair if that helps.

Possibly a stupid question but have you turned the little power switch on the PSU on? if yes and it still doesn't work then yes its likely a dud part.

Possibly a faulty PSU, but unlikely. It's more likely that something isn't configured properly. Your PSU isn't going to do jack until it gets the word from your motherboard. Make sure the 4/8 pin and 20/24 pin connections are properly fixed. Also double check the power button cables are correctly connected. There may be a little power button on the motherboard that you can use to check whether the latter is the problem. If that doesn't get you anywhere try that PSU on another desktop and try another PSU on the new one - that should tell you for sure if the problem is the PSU or motherboard.

Also the switch on the back, check it.

I found that it wasn't a faulty PSU. I had just been a jackass and plugged one of the two pin connectors in the wrong spot. It's working now! Thanks anyway guys!
