1. MW2, the campaign, I loved it the first time, tried again and just couldn't do it (not through lack of skill, just through lack of ... pe-zaz)

2. Of course good/great games can be games with absolutely no replay value ... I just cannot think of any (MW2 doesn't count seeing as the multiplayer is its biggest feature)

3. Of course there is a place for these games ... it's called the pre-owned section of the gaming store.

I got two.

One for being very bad-Shadow of the Colossus.
...

if you never liked the game, fine, i won't push it,

but there is time attack, hard mode, and HMTA. and unlockable items for beating them. some of the normal time attack items were neat, such as the invisible cape.

so, i'm calling you out, there is replay value.

i'm just going to assume you just didn't like the game

And you guessed right. I didn't like it. But those do add to replay, won't work for me sadly. :(

I've replayed every single game I've owned at least twice with one exception:

The Force Unleashed.

Played it, beat it, was disappointed by the fact that the... main character turns into a good guy, couldn't be arsed to plug it in again.

Little Big Planet [story mode anyway], Arkham Asylum [though I'm trying to go back for the trophies], Final Fantasy 7-9, Obscure, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Evil Dead: Regeneration, Saints Row 2, Grand Theft Auto 4

...

that's quite a bit I think ...

1. Can any game be considered great (or, at least, very good) if it doesn't make you want to play over and over?
Yes. Many great story driven games shouldn't be played that often in case you experience it so often you become sick of it (this has happened with Discworld Noir, Grim Fandango and Broken Sword).

2. Could there be a place in the gaming world for games that (this is going to sound weird, bear with me) cannot be played again once you finish it? What I mean is, a game that attempts to be a singular narrative and gameplay experience that the player shouldn't be able to...dilute, so to speak, with multiple playthroughs.
Perhaps, but the game would likely be developed in such a way as to compensate for it. Most RPGs you'll only play through once but they'll force you to sit through 60-80hrs of, what is losely called 'gameplay' sections between 5-10 hrs of story.

Some games are just better to rent. Or buy cheaply.

Two games I would never play through again would be Uncharted 1 and 2, they're both great games they just have no good replay value to me. I'm not sure what it is but it just never caught me the way I hoped for
I really enjoy Uncharted 2`s multiplayer and it`s expanded the games lifespan far longer than i thought it would. I couldn`t even be botherd to finish the original there`s just something about landing the perfectly headshot on an enemy... only for him to promoptly fire back

1. Yup. Assassin's Creed 2 is quite far and away my favourite game of the year, but I completed it within a few days and have no intention to play it through again. I'll pick it up again when the DLC comes out (assuming my housemate lets me borrow it again) but there's no need for me to replay it all.

2. Ehh. It certainly sounds like something that would particularly interest me, but that's because it'd be horribly pretentious and I'm easily amused by that sort of thing. As for whether it really has a legitimate place in the gaming world... probably not so much.

That is some fantastic honesty/self-awareness; and you're right, it probably describes the target audience for that kind of (hypothetical) game.

Bioshock, If you take your time on the first play-through then you don't need to play again as by that point you will know all the plot twists and events

I was recently going through a thread that discussed games with great replay value, and I had a thought: what about games with *no* replay value? Now, I don't mean bad games, or games you personally didn't like and therefore wouldn't want to play again, I mean games that you actually enjoyed, but for whatever reason left you completely satisfied after one full playthrough and never really motivated you to pick it up again.

Which, I guess, leads me to two additional questions:

1. Can any game be considered great (or, at least, very good) if it doesn't make you want to play over and over?

2. Could there be a place in the gaming world for games that (this is going to sound weird, bear with me) cannot be played again once you finish it? Arkham Asylum was one of the best games I've played in a long time, and had no replay value, but that was fine, because the experience of playing it once was great enough that it didn't require additional playthroughs.

Probably Shadow of the collosus. Played through it once, and got to the fish one and never wanted to play it again.
