You know what I've always wanted to do in GTA 4? Play a zombie mod. People walking the streets like they've been shot. Attacking you on sight etc etc. All you have to do is
1 create a isle or a closed city district
2 spawn hostile npc's
3 retexture 5-6 nps skins to make them look like zombies
4 set their hp to 50%
6 forcespawn them in that area
This could easily be done if there was a decent SDK for gta 4. something like the Geck or the Wc3 World editor.
At the moment there is only C++ and retexturing sdk's. Whom only the professionals use.
I think this is a epic waste of good gameplay. I mean, almost all sandbox games have great software development kits to keep them alive, Oblivion, Dragon, quake 3, the sims 2, garrys mod (duuh) age and Fallout 3 are just a the top of the iceberg.
I see great potential in Gta 4. To bad rockstar are ignoring the modding community and are more interested in making money.

Well think about it. You're a large, powerful company with fat stacks of cash. Would you rather get more money and prosper, or spend a ton of cash on developing a user friendly SDK?

Has Dragon Age been confirmed to have a toolkit or are you just suspecting it? 'Cause that'd be really cool.

I assumed they were going to make some kind of zombie mode, since they bothered to make the zombie skin and sound effects, which you could unlock with that Viral achievement.

Maybe Rockstar heard that Saint's Row 2 was going to feature a 'Zombie Survival Mode', so they wanted to distance themselves from that and take the more realist approach, of having zombies running around in yellow speedos, shooting people and driving cars.

The skins and sounds are there, and you also have the drunken walk, so all you would have to do is figure out how to make them attack in a non-Bas Rutten way and more like a traditional zombie.

that sounds like an awesome idea! Driving around, barricading yourself in a computor cafe, hiding on the empire state building... somebody needs to make this.

i could just imagine 4 people barricaded by cars in the middle of the street with zombies surrounding them, that would be awesome

What is an SDK?
Yes i'm also lost on what an SDK is. Someone explain.
Software Development Kit or Devkit. Basically, a set of tools designed to allow in-depth work with a particular engine. Modern games companies are having trouble releasing SDKs [see also Supreme Commander] because they tend to use proprietary software which would have to be licensed to each individual user, often components of ludicrously expensive 3D suites like 3DS Max.

SDK is basically a program which allows average plebs to mod the game.

I think you meant to say that they care about their customers, as long as they're playing Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360.

okay so, mix up the zombie texture a little bit, re-texture people with this, change walking animation to drunken animation, use zombie sounds, and then just make an attacking animation,

What's wrong with C++? If you want to make real changes that's what you need. Although I admit my judgement is probably coloured by the fact that I'm a computer programmer by trade. But then again so are most modders.

But truthfully GTA IV for the PC is buggy enough as it is, trying to layer mods on top of an already unstable game would be annoyingly difficult at best and a huge mess at worst.

If you're a PS3 user with a broken heart, then you can blame Microsoft. They're 100% of the reason there is no DLC on PS3. Oh, and everyone knows PC users are (thank god) the ones that get the most out of Bethesda games.
I play it on the 360 dude, and if I did have it for my PS3 I don't think I'd have a broken heart. Oblivion is a much better glitchfest :)
