You dodged a bullet Activision.

Jesus, When the hell will they get rid of Kotick?

Maybe we have to activate the alter of sacrifice with a thousand screaming noobs.

Any news or statements on whether there will be dedicated servers for PC gamers? Otherwise they can go and stick this in the same place as MW:2... and I'm guessing that is going to make Activision's colon rather crowded.

No analyst, publishers really do not need to start charging for a multiplayer experience in the future. Their argument is that because we're spending more time on multiplayer, we're not spending that time buying new games. I think in many cases the reason I bought the game at retail price was because I could jump on the multiplayer - this is certainly true for Halo 3 and MW2
You're dead right, I sure as hell didn't spend 50 bucks on MW2 for a 5-6 hour single player experience - I bought it for the multiplayer. Without multiplayer I'd wait till it hit the bargain bin. The analysts just don't understand this and neither does Kotick.

Look at what "uber analyst" Pachter said:

Though Pachter said he expected Activision to soften the blow by allowing some form of free-to-play multiplayer, he noted that gamers on PSN and XBL had racked up close to 4 billion combined hours of playtime since MW2's launch last November. Assuming that the average game has a playtime of under 30 hours, said Pachter, this means that "a staggering 133 million units of equivalent game play have been spent (so far) playing Call of Duty online."

They're hilarious in their greed. Next they'll be calling multiplayer 'stealing.' Personally I'd love to see them fuck thenmselves over by charging extra for multiplayer and losing millions of customers to the plethora of other multiplayer games out there.

The day where I have to pay to play a game online is the day I stop playing things online.

I already pay Microsoft 50 bucks a year to play online I'm not forking out any more money.

i played a few hours of MW2 on his copy of the game, and i can honestly say i feel ripped off already. even if it was his copy. so when (not if, because its going to happen once Kotick wants to build his platinum-sprinklering fountain of money next to his diamond-adorned garden, where all the plants are made of dollars) they actually put up subscriptions, i wont even consider buying it for the singleplayer.

Well, people seemed to like the way David Jaffe lied about not making Twisted Metal so he could reveal it later, so I figured that by doing this I'd become more popular and loved!
Hideo Kojima is a fan of this too.

Subscription fees are gonna happen, one way or another.
