The movie "Rampage"
Uwe Boll should have been a giant red flag. It was a giant red-flag but I thought I heard that Rampage was actually pretty good. That could not have actually happened for there is no way someone could think that this was a good movie.
If you haven't seen it (you lucky bastard), it's about a guy who goes on a killing spree. Think "Falling Down" if that movie was the worst movie ever.
It was terrible. Terrible isn't the correct word. It was one of the worst movies that has or will ever exist in this galaxy and galaxies undiscovered (and that's giving it too much credit).
You know what the worst part is? There are some POWERFUL moments in this film. This film had potential and some of the scenes showed this potential (the "hair salon" and the "Bingo Hall" for those of you who were unfortunate enough to see it). In the hands of a monkey who ate too much lead paint, this could have been good. Unfortunately, we got Boll.
Oh god, I think I saw this in HMV just a couple of days ago.
It had the words "The movie falling down should have been!" on it.
I disregarded it completely because NOBODY. FUCKS. WITH FALLING DOWN. I love that movie.
Honestly, it's at this point I realise that I haven't seen a legitimately terrible movie in ages. I have damn good instincts when it comes to movies, built up by years of being a film fanatic. Even the bad movies I've seen recently were so bad it's good.
But after a while of thinking, there's one film that comes to my mind. Saw: The final chapter, also known as saw seven or saw 3D. I have the boxset of them all, because the series does contain some gems, the most obvious one being the first, and the effects were always damn good.
Except in saw 3D. Old characters are bought back, survivors of the other "games", which is an interesting idea, but ultimately doesn't go many interesting places. The plot is nonsensical, the acting terrible, and most of all, GOOD GOD WHAT DID THEY DO TO THE EFFECTS?
Did all the blood have to be silly bright red, bordering on orange in order to make the film 3D? Did the special effects guy just quit? Did he go insane? I don't know, but they go from some of the best horror special effects in the other saw films to some of the worst in this one. Every other saw film has some redeeming quality that makes it worth watching at least once. An interesting character, a good performance, creative kills, an inspired story, but nothing works at all in saw: the final chapter.
