I recognise him when he yells. It was in Arkham City as the Penguin right at the start saying "you can't run from me y'here me!? I own this town!" That I realised it was him, and so I've been paying attention to every scream.

I wasn't surprised by Deadpool, even if he's less moral, he still wisecracks.
David frightened me. I couldn't believe that was Nolan North when I read those credits. That character was messed up.

I would say if all the voices he's played, Nathan Drake is his most recognized role. To me when I think of Nolan North, Nathan Drake immediately comes to mind, even if he was in just about everything not too long ago.

Although it's safe to say Troy Baker may become the new Nolan North if he keeps getting so many roles.

I'm with you there, sir. David really gave me the jitters, and when I saw it was Nolan North, I was all "Wait, that was HIM?"

Though really, who's surprised when North has his voice in a game, anymore?

EDIT: He was in Portal 2??
"SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE!"<------ Nolan. Motherfucking. North.
=D That's crazy. I was looking at his IMDB page and the list of games I've played where he hasn't voiced someone is pretty darn small

Yeah, that's kind of what I was saying the whole time.

Everyone's always like "OOOHHHH Nolan North is such a good actor!" and I was always trying to tell them that:"No. Nathan Drake is just his normal voice. It's not really acting it's just talking for him. if you listen to him act he's mostly derivative and bland."

But then Spec Ops the Line came out and I had to shut my god damn mouth because he acted his ass off in that game, so now I'm not allowed to call him a talentless hack.

I could continue to say he's in motherfucking everything and he was bound to get one right, but it was an amazing performance, so I'm just going to shut the hell up and give him a little credit.

How on Earth could Nolan North POSSIBLY be typecast?
He's probably literally the voice of several hundred different characters every year.
The guy is in EVERYTHING.

I am the night.
I am BATMAN.

I think he was The Penguin in Arkham city right? Pretty unrecognisable as well ;)
He was, unfortunately.

OT: I've got to give it to him, I did not have any idea he was even in The Last of Us until someone told me.

North gets a lot of flak (rightly so) for his smarmy roles, and how it's like you can't avoid him since he's in every fucking game. But with The Last of Us he's proven what a top tier voice actor/performer he really is.

Also it's very funny to see people say he only plays one type of character because its clear that they only look at Drake and one or two other characters when he's done a lot more.
I've heard the guy as Deadpool and the Penguin, so i know he's got some vocal range.
Yeah that was him.
I'd recommend checking out his IMDb [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0636046/] page, he's done a hell of a lot of stuff.
179 and counting. i think this is the longest acting history i saw on IMDB and im a long time user. wow this guy is amazing.
You think that's a lot?
Check out Jennifer Hale. [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0354937/?ref_=sr_1]
Though since KoToR and Mass Effect most people seem to be telling her to do an angry voice and nothing else which is a shame.
some TV shows but nothing as impressive as Nolan though.

Let's not play this game again. Frank [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919798/?ref_=tt_cl_t4] always wins. Always.
Ok, thats a lot of shows. he must talk more than me!
I heard in an interview with some of the cast of Futurama, they called Frank Welker the god of VA's. Ain't no stepping up to him. I am split on who to crown queen of the VA's: Jennifer Hale or Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.
OT: I like to think North's role as Deadpool was a form of therapy for what went down in Spec Ops. poor guy needed a BIG pick-me-up.

I do feel abit bad for VA's who get type cast, it proberly pays well but it must get damn boring playing the generic white hero. Tara Strong at least gets to play a monster or a pony every now and then.
Have you ever looked at North's credits? The only typecasting he has is as a voiceover actor. He's been a Ninja Turtle, an Indiana Jones wannabe, Zod, a bunch of Transformers, and that drab guy from the Assassin's Creed games nobody likes.

"That character is me. That's how in real-life - if Nolan North were this guy who's a treasure hunter with all these circumstances in my life - these things would naturally come out because I'm putting myself in that situation."
You would yell at small children who are throwing a football (or, to Americans, soccer ball) to each other to kick it?

(See 2:01 onwards).

I'm just laughing at the mental image of Nolan North slowly appearing increasingly like Mel Gibson, complete with anti-Semitic rant in the back of a taxi.

Holy crap. She did one of the Lutece twins in Bioshock Infinite? That's just awesome.
