In other news, where is Minecraft on that Nominee list?
Minecraft has not been released officially, so thus not in the running for 2010.
It's available for purchase, I'd say it's only in beta in the same way that MMOs are constantly being patched and updated and expanded upon.
Yeah, but if you are going by that, it was available for purchase in 2009, it just wasn't as insanely popular as it became in 2010. So, either way you look at it, it can't be anywhere on a 2010 list.

I only played SC2, ME2 and F:NV
I would probably go for SC2. The singleplayer alone is worth it :)
The only game that came this year that I want to play but still haven't is Metro 2033, so all in all, it was a pretty meh year for me :-(

I like how, with the exception of Red Dead Redemption, all of the games were sequels.
Red Dead Redemption is a sequel to Red Dead Revolver. The only non-sequel on there is actually Heavy Rain, unless I'm missing something.

I don't much care, to be honest.

Why not?

TF2 was on PCG's 2010 list.

... That's stupid... then you could put Doom every year since it came out...

Man, you KNOW its been a shitty year when Mass Effect 2 make the list of best games. Wow...just wow. This single game is pretty much a betrayal of everything that Bioware used to stand for, and consequently, a betrayal of their fans.
what were you smoking while you were playing this? because you clearly weren't playing the same game as the rest of us.
Maybe it was the ridiculous railroading plot that pretty much took what was good about the first game and pissed all over it. Then again it might have been the boring, rinse-repeat gun fights that tried and failed to be like every 3rd person shooter ever. Then again maybe it was the gutting of any semblance of depth from the leveling system, which loops around to my first point. I could go on.
oh, I see what's happened here: clearly someone said they got you ME2 for christmas but it was actually a copy of Rogue Warrior in the box, right?

now I understand.

Dead Rising 2 anyone? just slashing through zombies with a laser sword and all the other insane and brutal combo weapons should be enough to gain a mention also Minecraft (though it was originally released in 2009) the constant updating and recent beta should atleast deserve an honorable mention

Out of that list, I say give it to either New Vegas or Kirby. Both amazing games and my two favorites of the year. Their choice though.

Probably will be RDR or ME2. Which I don't think deserve it that much. Marston came off as a prick(although I guess for good reason, but still, I don't like pricks) and the story felt disjointed. And ME2 didn't really advance the plot at all.

Just my opinion though.
while i haven't played rdr and therefore my opinion isn't worth dirt; however i agree with me2 in that, even though there were two discs, it felt like half the game me1 was; also the music was terrible. out with the great techno sci-fi music and in with the generic epic action music.

as for my top choice: a tie between new vegas (dead money in particular), halo reach, and epic yarn.
Wait, are you saying Mass Effect had music? Wow, that's news to me. I didn't even notice Mass Effect's soundtrack in all but one or two areas. When I found it on Youtube, I thought it was incredibly generic sounding and not at all memorable.

Mass Effect 2, for me, was a great improvement. I thought the music was awesome and still listen to most of the character leitmotifs on youtube sometimes. It pales in comparison to stuff like Halo or Homeworld, but it's still damn good.

Really though, if you want to hear an electronic soundtrack done right, listen to Tron: Legacy's OST.

OT: That's a good list. I can tell it's been a great year for gaming, with a whole bunch of games all appealing to different people - just look at all the variety in the GotY lists on the internet so far, few of them are the same. Hell, look at all the argument on this thread. I'm glad to see Reach and Mass Effect 2 on that list, certainly.

eh. mass effect to me was just a fun sci-fi game that had an interesting mystery with crazy revelations and i felt the music fit.

mass effect 2 felt like a generic action game with generic action game music. gone was the mysteries; they had been replaced with a huge "this is what happens and this is where the climax is going to be" sign. there were things mass effect 2 did right (i have to mention this or else it'll sound like a fanboy rage post), i liked the characters (most of them at least, friggin' jack....) and i probably talked to them more than in mass effect 1.

as for the music thing, i think its probably a matter of preference.

while i'd love to continue ranting on what mass effect 2 did right and wrong, i've hit the point in my post where i realize that it's silly to just go on and rant your opinion on the internet to someone who likely holds a different opinion.

OT: as for which game wins... i'd probably put money on starcraft 2. people rave about it like it's the second coming.

Happy to see Heavy Rain there. And not just because of the graphics.
You're happy to see god of war without the gameplay or fun, with a WORSE story on the top games of the year list? sad.
Happy to interact with another internet troll.

I'd pick Super Mario Galaxy 2. That game is breathtaking.
I didn't find the game any more amazing then the first one, but, the sound track. Oh my, I do love that sound track.

Ot: My Vote goes to Mass effect 2, as people have said it's the only game on that list that makes me want to go back for more. Well, to be honest, apart from Mario Galaxy 2, it's the ony game on the List I own.

If a game should come close I would say Civ, from what I've heard it's a fantastic game.

On that note, I'd love to a "Game of Year edition" Mario Galaxy 2. :p

Cool story bro ;)

Personally, it's between ME2 and RDR for me(no shit). But I also enjoyed SMG2 and DKR. Minecraft(even though it wasn't released in stores) still deserves to be nominated. That game kicks ass.

Please, since you seem to be greater than everyone, how am I a troll for saying that it is stupid to put a game that wasn't made in 2010 on a 2010 list?

WTF? How the heck is GOW3 not on this list? Whatever I swear sometimes *mumblemumble*

*Walks aways angrily
That was my first thought as well. But it's hard to narrow it down I guess. I would also have liked to see a few indie games on there, are they not eligable?
I guess not. Did Dragon Age: Awakening come out this year? If so, that should be on there as well.
I hate to see games like Drgaon Age: Awakenign and Fallout New Vagas. While they are both great game, the amount of bugs in them are just insane. I hope a bug fest don't represent the games of this year.
I got Awakening relatively soon after the release and it didn't have any bugs in it for me. I would've liked to see it nominated.
I got stuck in the fade tiwce, I had to restall the game tiwce before I start a new charater and get it working. Some charaters items just disappear out of the air in Silverite mine. Anyways Dragon age is a buggy pile from the start. Whats even worse it that Origins bug is still there.

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Age:_Origins_Bugs/Glitches
http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Age:_Origins_-_Awakening_Bugs/Glitches

Tell me that is not enough bugs. (these are more major one, many smaller one are listed in the quest/skill page.)
