I've been wondering: has everyone been celebrating or are there Escapists who are not doing anything for New Year?

I personally have more than 5 hours to go, but we mostly celebrate with family on 1 January ourselves. Nothing planned for tonight, though.

Anyone who is experiencing an evening like any other?

It's the most overhyped day of the year, it's just a night out drinking, and it's always a let-down becuase of the high expectations.

Anyway, I'll be eating dinner with my family and some of their friends, and after that I'll be going home to a mate who is having a new years party.

Still trying to shrug off a cold I've had since Christmas. And like John-Joe said, it's just another excuse to drink and scream, and I can do both in my own home, skipping the part of the evening where I make a public ass of myself.

I have about 15 more hours until it's my New Year and I'm probably going to talk with my friends while playing video games like last year.

I didn't have anything planned until about five minutes ago, it really isn't anything special, I'll celebrate when I want to not when I'm told to, dammit!

Six hours to go for me. I've never bothered celebrating, I just find the whole thing overrated. Expensive, cold and overrated... and a massive hangover isn't really my idea of a good start to the new year.

So yeah, I'll be doing exactly the same thing I did last NYE and the one before that, and the one before that, etc. - have a few beers with my dad, watch some TV, play some video games, waste time on the internet, think of suitable things to play as my last and first songs of the year.

One year I got dragged out to an awful party in a club with about a dozen of my extended family. I spent the night surreptitiously smoking cigarettes (I was 14 or something) and fending off idiots who, for some reason, kept asking me if my cousin was single. "I dunno, ask her yourself" - apparently none of them did. Cowards.

I'm doing nothing. Live on my own, don't go out much, business as usual.
Ahh...it's always good to know that I'm not the only person who will be alone for new years eve.

I will be asleep at midnight due to working at 4:30am in the morning New Years Day.

Not that I'd be doing anything terribly exciting if I were able to stay up (just hang around a friends house really).

My parents bought a big screen, so after they go to bed, I'll be celebrating by Watching the Watchmen (at least sampling it on a big screen before watching for real) but Tonight... approximately 23 minutes from now (Mountain Time) I'll be doing nothing.

Been my 2nd New Years Single, and I'm not digging it, even slightly.
