That expression though....

Hehe, on a side note: I've started murdering a lot of people in Phantom Pain...I wanna get myself a big ol' devil horn. >:D

Took me a second to work out that the brown thing in the last panel was some terrified goat-poo, and not a sudden horn growing from Big Boss in satisfaction (hey, Kojima might write that).

I once hit a crow in midair with a supply drop which rendered her unconscious. Pure luck of course.
So I assume this works? but common. Hitting it will be pure luck.

As someone who hasn't played the game, the joke is completely lost. If only the art was better, then maybe...

So wait, the idea is to launch the goat in the air and make it crash into the helicopter? Man, I should simply play this game just to be in on all these MGSV jokes and whatnot.

That's some awfully sharp and rock-looking poo, if that's the case.

Why is there a large chunk of shrapnel (or a rock?) sticking out of his head? I feel like those four panels are unrelated except for having Sgt. Grizzled McSoldier in them.

It's BB's "evil things boner". Gets longer the more bad you do, shorter the more good you do. Simple, visual-based morality system, kinda like The Suffering's bloody photograph.

As a matter of fact if you go on a murderous rampage and kill your enemies rather than knocking them out, the shrapnel does begin turning into an actual horn...hence the title of the comic being "Non-Lethal Lethal Takedowns." The joke being that the goat got chopped to bits in the helicopter's rotor.

The sheer number of erection and horny snake jokes I can make is astounding, why would shrapnel grow? Does nobody have some clippers that can cut metal?

i have noticed it as well that the horn is slowly getting bigger. i try to avoid killing as much as i can but there are moments were you dont care and just go on a killing spree. when im stealthy i kill only people i have no use for. since they wake up again and alert everyone which isnt really welcoming when you try to explore the base.

but great joke. even my wife had to laugh when i ballooned a sheep in to the air. just today i did it with this syberian bear. that look it had.

I think it's supposed to be a hallizunation on your part. It gets said multiple times that the shrapnel presses on your optic nerves and Snake himself sometimes talks about how he's becoming a demon, so it makes sense that he would view himself this way if he does bad things.

Hm? Why do you kill people when sneaking? If you just hide them somewhere were the enemies don't patrol then they don't get alarmed through sleeping guards and you have to be very slow to take long enough that they wake up on their own.
And you can research non-lethal assault rifles fairly early on, so there's no reason to kill even if you're discovered.
So you're not really trying THAT hard to avoid killing.

I thought it was the result of a goat giving his hair a curious lick mid-way through being catapulted into the sky. It's not that clear, is it?

Very little makes me want to eventually buy this game more than this clip:

i think you missed my point.
the reason why i kill them is because they are no use to me on the base when their marks are all Ds or Es. and like i said; i want to explore the base in peace and in time. cant do that if everyone is looking for me just because that one guy i knocked out is awake and tells everyone.
also there are no saves when being on the base, so when you already knocked out a bunch, collected a lot of resources, etc, and suddenly everyone is on your tail, not much fun either.
there are moments i restart from the last checkpoint if i get discovered and the alarm breaks out. but then there are moments i feel not like doing it all over again and just kill the rest. which has its benefits as well since i can blow up antennas.

As always, Metal Gear games and their absurd array of gadgets allow for the weirdest solutions to simple problems...

Heh, brilliant!

I saw a video of someone do something similar to this, but they fultoned a soldier with a bunch of C4 strapped to him and blew it up before he was fully fultoned out. The explosion destroyed the helicopter but somehow the fulton was still successful and the soldier was retrieved!

Ok, but then you are not really trying your hardest to not kill people. I mean there's nothing wrong with that, everyone should play the game how they enjoy it the most. It was just weird to read "i try to avoid killing as much as i can" and basically "then i just shoot them in the head so they don't annoy me" from the same person :-D.

Hey, a strip that takes place within the game world that I actually understand, for once!

It's always a challenge to make video game comics that can set up their punchline properly for people who aren't already intimately familiar with the game, and do it without just opening with a character telling another what happens in the game (as Penny Arcade tends to fall back on like half the time). I already knew about the balloon thing the game lets you do, but I think I could have sussed it out from the diagram in the second panel if I hadn't.
