Me and a couple friends have been getting together and having a good lan experience. We aren't really interested in Online based mutiplayer, rather games designed for 2-4 people only. We've been playing age of empires, secret of Mana, minecraft, and borderlands. I'm really searching for old underrated multiplayer games that are favourites of fellow escapists.

Rise Of Nations (2002). Didn't find out about it until about a year ago. It's such an incredible RTS, kind of mixing Age Of Empires and Civilization. I've played it with a couple of friends a lot. It's awesome.

SWAT games (SWAT 4) are also a great fun to play on a LAN, as it's teamwork and the scenarios randomize some bit so there's replayability.

Command and Conquer(Renegade), Marvel ultimate Alliance (great fun but you need controllers) or if you wanna go really geeky, split up the controls and form a team in star trek bridge commander (i once played it in a "real" fake Starfleet bridge, everyone standing on his post, working the sensors or weapons or shields or whatever...damn that was neat-o

MechAssault 2 was a blast until all but 3 people stopped playing it. Still holding out hope for a MechAssault game this generation!

Call of Duty has kill streaks.

Bad Company 2 has destructible environments.

Neat

Halo Reach has jet packs.

Cool

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect has snowmen on flying carpets firing lasers and swinging bats at shotgun toting dinosaurs, gingerbread men, and double D cops in a disco club.

I have seen the light.

And it is awesome.

This.

Good, mindless shooty fun. And what I love is that the campaign has co-op mode, but only for two people.

Also, it has a genius map maker.

DO EET.
