i dont know if its just me,but gaming is very boring to me.I've never played a stealth game that i've liked. Not even thief.the whole concept of a stealth game seems boring.i also seem to have a problem with RPG's.im not interested in story's,because barely any of them are good. One of the good RPG's i liked was the Jak series. That story made me very interested about what happened next.is anybody else like this?

There's this matter of hard games being incredibly fun if you're good at them, but of course it's then only fun to the people who are good at them. I see stealth games as being that way; one little failure like getting spotted once and the whole awesomeness is ruined. That's why I like games that genuinely made it easier, like Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Arkham's stealth sequences were pure genius to me. I could have used twice as many challenge rooms. I loved those parts. And I don't typically like stealth games.

Beyond Good & Evil is another game that has some stealth in it that I actually like.

Not an RPG son.

I'm not really sure what we're meant to discuss.
Do I like stealth games? Yeah, picking off someone before they know you're there is awesome
Do I like RPG's? Yeah, I like story driven games and RPG's stories are usually interesting and driving.

Welcome to the Escapist!

OT: Try some casual games to get you started, and move up from there.

I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned earlier.
This sums up what I was going to say.

And your post has what to do with your title?
The "Noob Effect" is the title of a video that can be found on Youtube concerning backstories and why they aren't needed. It might also have to do with being a "noob" to a certain genre that makes the game un-enjoyable.

Sly Cooper is pretty easy stealth, maybe not the best game, but it's good. I don't play many stealth games either, mostly because lurking and doing nothing while waiting for an enemy to pass is made incredibly frustrating when you find out you made a slight mis-judge of space and got caught. I actually kind of like the genre, but I think it's all in the execution.

"Gaming is very boring", yet you have joined a website dedicated to gamers? Perhaps you should've refined that first line to mention the specific genres you continue on to say you dislike.

And Jak was not an RPG series. This mistake has annoyed me, and if Pimppeter arrives, possibly him too.

I happen to like stealth games i find that i actually prefer the stealthy more slow-paced type game in which i have to solve problems using my brain rather than just the game dropping me right into the action and giving me a gun and saying "shoot everyone who's running towards you"

I think what he means is there are certain games he doesn't find fun because he's not good at playing them.

edit: eh no. I have no idea what he means. I think he refers to this YouTube video.

To many games need a back story. It's fucking retarded.
So why did you play RPGs if you didn't want stories? That's pretty much expected in them.

[sub]PS: The Jak and Daxter games aren't RPGs...[/sub]

That really makes me rage. A good story can enhance a game immensely in my books, although I guess it's all down to taste. What allows books to have stories and not games? Would you say story doesn't belong in films, if it only belongs in books?

If you only want shooty goodness, then only play games with shooty goodness in them. If you don't want a story, or a stealth game, don't focus on the story and stay away from stealth games. I'm still confused about the message of this thread.

Since they're pretty much flying out of stores these days,i do my best to scrap the joy out of them, but it's very hard.personally,i dont hate RPG's,most of them are just boring to me.i prefere multiplayer games like team fortess 2, or warhawk.

In that case,
Grand Strategy games like Hearts of Iron 3. I've heard they're awesome fun once you get into them, but as hard as I try I can't wrap my head around them. It's too much to take in.

Still, if you find RPGs boring, then don't buy them! Stick to multiplayer games if you like them, just because RPGs are "flying out of stores" doesn't mean you should buy them.

Also, weclome ot teh Escapist! Don't drink the water and stay out of the basement.
