This is a discussion on the word NOOB

i decided to post this after going into a MGO match and had a really annoying experiance

here's how the story goes
i was playing a MGO match simple TDM BUT for those who have
played MGO before im pretty sure that you are aware of power of the SHOTGUN
you see i was using the SHOTgun one of the most annoying weapons to get killed by
since it does serious damage and can knock people to the ground plus it can stop them from aiming so in basic the SHOTGUN is like the perfect weapon since there's not much skill to it
now before anyone starts calling me a NOOB for using the SHOTGUN here is my reason to
use the SHOTGUN

i already mastered the other guns so all i really needed next was the SHOTGUN

now here's what caused all the NOOB calling i was using the SHOTGUN in a small map
so i had a advantage, and everyone else is using fast firing weapons e.g.P90,M4, LMG

(there's a invisible rule on not using the SHOTGUN made by stuck up PLAYERS)

so im doing my bussiness having fun killing people with no mercy but after about 1 minute
into the match this one guy starts using the text chat throws curses swear words and other
type of annoying insults but mainly calling me a NOOB for using the SHOTGUN
(i explained before that the SHOTGUN is the perfect weapon if your new )
and he continuslly calls me "YOU F^%&KING NOOB STOP USING THE SHOTGUN"
acting like he owns the lobby now me being a good person simply just stayed calm and asked
him to chill saying it's only a game and i will use the SHOTGUN because i like to.

soon he gets 3 other people involvled and within 3 minutes what first a great TDM soon became
a huge debate ,some people defended me , others kept on insulting

some even swithed team so they could CQC me and couldn't get killed by me

so you get the point my online EXP was ruined by people calling me a NOOB
and a guy swearing the hell out of the chat log because he was getting killed in the match

so my question to you all is has this ever happend to you (please explain).

who's fault is it really ?

and why do people use the Word NOOB because when i asked the guy to define NOOB he just shut up (i know the meaning)

there's my post plz discuss :)

What does, MGO TDM and CQC mean?

Noob= stupid person who is rubbish.
MGO= Metal Gear Online a PS3 game
TDM= Team DeathMatch
CQC= Close Quaters Combat

NOOB= some one who is a newbie ,new to the game, still learning, NOOB is simply a shorter version of newbie

it does not mean stupid person who is rubbish.

MGO = Metal Gear Online
CQC = Close Quarters Combat
TDM = The Doodoo Masters? (Honestly, I have no idea)

But yes. Mainly I have called "noob" the people who just really, really anger me by using the Magnum (AWP) in CS: Source, mainly in de_dust2.

The other sniper is a man's weapon, the magnum really is for "noobs".

Though I never use the word "noob" anywhere else.

I'm assuming they stand for "Metal Gear Online", "Team Deathmatch" and "Close quarters Combat" respectively. And if a weapon is in the game, it's fine to use it in my opinion, as long as it's not against that particular server's rules.

For example, I find Martyrdom on COD4 to be extremely annoying, and never use it myself, but I would never complain that people were using it unless we were playing on a server that specifically forbid it.

And people that use the word "noob" as an insult to someone who's just kicked their arse need to look up the definition of the word "irony".

Ah MGO... stopped playing after achieving Hound Rank... The fault isn't yours.... not by a long shot, MGO as well as other online games are full of sore losers who blame you for their inability to play well.

I'm not trying to brag or being all high and mighty but MGO is a game I play really well, I often came in first place in the match rankings and I had great pride in my headshot ability, but as with you... after being killed several times players tend to call you a noob who doesn't know how to play, try to vote kick you out and spam the chat channel with insults, all of this without ever having a valid and solid reason.... this is why I stoped playing, resistance is much more silent hurray \o\.

tbh, it sounds like sour grapes from the other players, which you just have to expect if you're killing them, I mean, it's like on counterstrike, early on, if you killed anyone with a good accurate shot, or even a lucky one, everyone would just scream hacker at you, so don't let them get to you!

I guess it's mainly the developers fault for putting an overpowered weapon to the game.

Though I guess you're at fault too. Example: how would you feel if someone killed you repeatedly with an overpowered weapon? Again and again. With the same weapon. You'd probably be pretty annoyed too.

actually i won't be annoyed at him instead i will compliment him

since it's smart to use a over powered weapon over and over again

If I was smart I'd learn from him and start using that same overpowered weapon.

Of course, I've never played metal gear online, so if it has situations like in Counterstrike where you can sit and protect a point with a crazily overpowered weapon because objectives aren't symmetrical I might be willing to change my tune, but otherwise if it's like a deathmatch, use what works.

Also, if the shotgun is that overpowered and it's not just people failing to work around it, I'd seriously consider not playing the game as that's a pretty big flaw.

In my personal experience, Noob is just a general derogatory term these times, and carries as much meaning as say, Shithead, or something. Often when I ask them to define what they mean by it, there's often a long pause, then they scream "NO(Add many, many O's here)OB" then run away.

Thanks, it's just that I understand the frustration of having a great time playing the game feeling good about your skill and how the match is coming along, only to have it ruined by people who need excuses for loosing..... The ever so famous "My controller's not working right!" Is my favourite.

Is this Metal Gear Online? If so I couldn't fault you, The Shotgun was always my favorite in those games as well. What's wrong with using your favorite gun?

Anyway, I hate the word "noob" it's annoying... I also hate the word Pwn, Pwning and Pwnage.

newb-

Someone who is new to the activity that they are currently partaking in. Very often this term is used pertaining to computer games. Contrary to popular belief, a newb and a n00b are not the same thing, as a newb can and will get better where as a n00b will partake in activites meant mainly to aggrivate other players.

newbs deserve a chance to grow and become better.
