I don't know why I suddenly remembered this, but it really brought back memories for me and reminded me why I enjoyed WoW so much. It wasn't the dungeons or the story or the battlefields. It was, ultimately, the stupid and temporary fun that stuck with me the most.

This NPC represents that so well, and I was wondering how many of you remember him.

I have seen you post a lot but I have never gotten the chance to say this.
Your avatar is the cutest thing ever. Like, ever ever. Since the beginning of time ever.

OT: I don't remember him. But then again, I only played WoW for one month this summer and that's the only WoW I played. And I mostly stayed in the Orc area.

He was, like his name implies, a place holder before Blizzard implemented ships. He was far superior too in that he just teleported you instantly rather than having to wait on ships.

Why did they get rid of him? He seems much better than all that waiting.

I was never really sure about that. I guess WoW wanted to keep their boats and zeppelins. The boats are really a nice touch, just a little slow sometimes, and it can be really frustrating to miss one by a few seconds.

Yeah that must have been annoying. Maybe they wanted it to seem more immersive by having to take boats and zeppelins to travel long distances quicker instead of just teleporting.
