What game or game characters remind you of a much simpler time in your life?
What was the first game you remember playing, and on which platform?

The first game I remember playing is Command And Conquer Tiberian Dawn.
The reason for this post is that I recently found my old N64 along with my glorious C&C-TD...it was a great day.
I'm still a great fan of the C&C series, finishing every game in the series.

Yeah, I remember when Naughty Dog developed Spyro. The good ol' days when he was a smartass little dragon who played hooky.

There's a game I played when I was younger. It was called Guardian's Crusade, and it was on the PSOne. That was a fun little game, but then it had Kool-Aid spilled on it and was rendered useless.

Sprite used to be my drink of choice for ruining my favourite games. I lost many a good game to that lemony beverage.

Sonic, in the same way that looking at Paul McCartney reminds you that he used to be cool.

I still look back fondly on the Asterix games.

First game I ever played was the original Sonic for the Genisis, and I less-than-three'd it.

Then the post-Sonic Adventure 3D games came in and broke everything...

Quake III Arena and Half Life were the first few games I played... I remember being scared of Half Life. Really scared. :(

I was like 7 or 8 when I played it. I'm 15 now.

Wow, old DOS games like, wolfenstein, doom, quake, hexen, jazz jackrabbit. I downloaded a DOS emulator a while back and burnt my brain to death trying to play them on a computer screen, something to do with the resolution or whatever on computer screens these days. Someone explained this to me but I tuned out. Apparently playing it on TV helps though it's not like I could be bothered fiddling around with stuff. Anyway it was totally worth it for the warm fuzzy feelings I got...

No specific characters as I was into strategy games when I was young and they don't often have recognizable (main) characters. As for games, Theme Park, Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper 1, Warcraft 2 and Starcraft. Theme Park is probably the first game I actually remember playing (though not the first game I 'consiously' played, as you'll see up ahead) and I enjoyed it tremendously. After about two years I turned out to be a HUGE fan of DK1 but could never really obtain a working version of the game and so bought a dual-pack that inluded Theme Hospital. When I gave that a try I noticed how great of a game that was as well. Not much later I got Warcraft 2, a game I also played stiff, and last but not least came Starcraft which basically marked the 'beginning' of my 'conciousness'. I remember very clearly that I spend half an hour trying to place a gas extractor, unable to figure out what the hell a "Vespene Geyser" was. Starcraft is the game that really taught me English.

Platform will be PC hands down, as I've never owned anything but. I've only seen gamecubes, xboxes etc at palls' houses. As for first game, I'm guessing this is "The Incredible Machine", also known as 'TIM'. There are one or two older games which I vaguely remember (there was some kind of very pixely sports game that allowed you to parasail), but TIM is the oldest game I consiously played.

Oh, and there was also "One Must Fall 2097", which I played at about the same time as Theme Park.
