We all have them, our personal secret favourite game and/or series that we'd just love to see brought back to life, either as a re-make or for a new game in the series.
I'd love to hear all the games/series you guys would like to be brought back, along with the things you think could have been done better [if there is anything], and your opinion on why you think it died.

***My personal favourite series***
Carmageddon
Originally made for the PC and N64 [just to be clear, I am no fan on the N64 version], by SCi.
This game had basically no back story, but the gameplay it brought forth was relatively new, and most importantly it was fun.
Me and my friends played through the original in one huge marathon, and had great fun.
Then [quite] a few years later, I found the demo for Carmageddon 2, and I suddenly had a great huge urge to play the game. I rushed out, got the game, only to find huge problems when I tried to play it on my XP machine(it was barely viewable, and at times, not viewable at all]. I had always expected to see a relase, but I never ever saw advertising for it, for which I was dissapointed.
Then a while later, out came TDR:2000, I rushed out to get this, only to find that the developers had tried to stick too much story on it, and removed basically all the fun from the series.

So Carmageddon is one of the few series I'd like to see brought back, I'd like to See a re-make of Carmageddon 2, or a new game, which still has the fun aspects from C2.

Tribes 2

Developed for the PC by Dynamix[now a dead company].
Now I know that this is actually a series, but I never had a chance to play the originals(beyond the original Tribes, which I tried to play, but I just can't, I can't understand it), and the follow up made by.. I don't know who, and don't care really, because it was a steaming PoS.

I originally picked up T2, simply because it was free(as it still is), and had great fun playing against the bots. I never got a chance to play it online, which is a great shame, as that's what this game is all about.
I'm not going to be nice to the developers of T2 either, they did do a shoddy job, they rushed the game, it needed serious patches to make it playable when it was first released, and this was the reason behind their demise. However it doesn't stop me from wanting to see a proper re-make or sequel to Tribes 2 [Tribes: Vengance was shit].

Game's/Series I want to die.

The Sims

The Sims, or stop counting it in game sales, it is bloody annoying!

So yeah, that's about it, What about you guys, what Series and/or games do you want brought back, and what do you want to curl under a rock and die?

PS) Did I take too long in fixing up my previous Thread? Why was it locked? [I accidently launched it while I was doing the title, then when after I typed all this out, it was locked :(]

If the Sims died tomorrow I think the world would be a small bit better.

That said I miss Carmageddon :). That was retarded fun...my poor ass only owned the demo. You had X minutes before it reset! I still played it for ages.

As for games I'd like to see again...I think Cosmic Carnage was an interesting fighting game for the short short lived 32x. If you had weapons on your last killing blow would sever whatever you hit last :).

I miss Harvest Moon... I wish it would be redone with new graphics/engines/concepts etc. but still be true to the original series (I didn't much care for the half-assed GC-Wii version).

I want Mario to die tbh. I loved the series, but now its just Nintendo milking a somewhat dead franchise for more fanboy money.

Wow, woulda thought it would've been given a higher rating than Teen for that. ^^
Cosmic Carnage looks like it has an interesting story behind it^^

The Carmageddon 2 demo kept me entertained for days, lol. I beat that demo every which way 15 times over. [I can't recall if it was possible to max everything with just that one map, but I got pretty close in any case. I remember that the top of the buildings were always abundant with items, but could take a few tries to get onto.]

Why is it that whenever a developer gets into his head to release a re-make, or a new games, they always seem to stray from the roots and/or proven concepts and really foul said game up?

I haven't played it, but Harvest Moon seems to be the basis for modern day casual gaming. [Casual gaming having thrown out some of the more interesting concepts].

I'm sure someone is gonna say Halo... It's just the world we live in, that good games are targeted... Sigh.

I want my Homeworld back. Plain and simple, give me more...

Also, could the Advent Rising "series" get a little lovin'?

As much as I'd like to agree, the Sims Series is a boon for PC gaming.... Urghk... Sorry, little bit of puke... Anyways. I think what would work best for the Sims, is less than 5 million "Expansions". I'd buy more Horse Armor than those crappy games or expansions myself, but if it gets more PC gamers, then whatever.

Oh! Dark Cloud.... I lived those games, and I'd possibly buy a PS3 for a sequel. Heck, I bought a Wii for Zelda.

Freespace needs a revival, like frackin' hardcore, who's with me?!

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 needs to be more episodic, and less Valve Episodic. Though I guess that one doesn't count, eh?

And last on my mind currently, Prey.... Where is the sequel, anyone know? Cause my memory tells me they were considering it last. If only there were some sort of popular web search engine... It could be named after an extremly high number... Maybe like Gazillion.... Meh. Something.

The series that needs to die? Hmm, this is a hard one actually. I don't think I hate any series enough to condem it to death, though Sonic, as much as he's been beloved, should probably be allowed to slip into that good-night.

i love zelda, but i think its time for it to be lovingly shot in the head :'( i hate the cartoon zelda, rather than the actual thing. remember ocarine of time? you could get a cut off somebodies nose, they were all so pointy!

i would like a sequel to the darkness, the light or something? from jennys (or watever her name is) point of view?
but then it could be an *insert happy ending* thing if everyhing suddenly gets better

Halo
>I used to be a fan but then Halo 2 came out. Now I just want an old favorite to die while it still has what dignity is left after Halo 3 and Wars.

Half-Life
>Episode 3 dammit!

Starcraft 2 + Diablo 3
> Release one already.

(Aside)
I love to hate some developers. On one hand we have great quality games; with believable AND likable characters, hours of fun, endless replay value (I still have D2, SC, and all the HL2 things), but on the other hand I've been waiting patiently for about 10 years to watch some guys play the game on Battle Reports which aren't updated frequently enough.
/(Aside)

Tomb Raider, Friday the 13th, Freddy Krueger, and all those other endlessly repeating franchises that never improve . . . I want them all to end.

The Thing
>John Carpenter's version was awesome. It needs to come back, or at least have a decent video game made for it.

Your quite right, Sonic is dead, the developers, in true developer fashion just haven't realised it yet.

Carmageddon did have cows in it yes, but you mainly ran over people or "zombies". Penguins? Maybe, it was a long time ago. :D

On with your game, is it just me, or did devlopers loose their imagination when they started creating graphically orientated games. You'd never see a story like this in a modern game(except for maybe Zelda, but that's just cut and paste with a few edits). *Sigh*

Ah yes, Zelda, the never ending same quest but slightly different - game. You'd think that after the first time, or at least the second or third, that she would get some decent bodyguards, but no, you have to rescue Zelda and save the world. *Sigh*, Nintendo have no originality sometimes.

Conkers Bad Fur Day almost got listed in my honors^^

I was too afraid to say it though, I still have the original. I'm scared that if they touch it, they'll destroy it [the series that is].

I want to see a sequel to "BloodNet", the old DOS game. That was wierd, creepy, and just balls-off-the-wall hard.

A new "BIO F.R.E.A.K.S." would be awesome, Midway... instead of another "Mortal Kombat" that will sell on nothing but nostalgia. "BIO F.R.E.A.K.S." had a great story and a fantastic basis for a bunch of new characters and individual plots. It could be a fighting game with actual depth...

Also, NEEDED: "Half-Life 2: Episode 3", "Diablo 3", and "Duke Nukem Forever"

I haven't played through Halo 2. I refuse to, I've played some of Halo 3, but I regard it as a different game. Halo ended at well... Halo for me.
[This mostly being because I hate Windows Vista, and will not for anyone be forced to go back on it].

Valve haven't really got the episodic thing down have they, it's been a wee bit too long between Episodes.

Release StarCraft 2! [I haven't played a decent strategy game in a while].

I don't watch much TV/Movies, so I haven't a clue what you are on about when you say 'The Thing', it does ring a bell though.
Horror Movies always seem to be done to death, *sigh*.

Anyone else here think Duke Nukem Forever will take nearly that long, yet last for 6 hours?

I used to love the Earthworm Jim games. I know that Jim the slimy invertebrate in a space suit isn't exactly recognizable to kids today, but they can deal.

Whenver I think of DNF, I always feel sorry for the people who pre-paid for the damn thing. I bet many of them have forgotten about it, and are going to be suprised when it turns up in their mail(or bings into their inbox if it's get's released as far into the future as I think it's going to).
It wouldn't suprised me if they Do Not Finish, Duke Nukem Forever. [Sorry, that's been done to death, I know].

Tribes 2 was absolutely awesome in its day. Tons of good mods, the normal modes still fun and regardless of the armor class system there were so many ways to play. Just a shame Tribes Vengance was pants.

Ive been wanted to see Final Fantasy 7's materia system make a comeback. All the more recent ones have become horribly complex.
