Internet nostalgia is a tricky thing to pinpoint at times... I mean, does it happen one real-life week after the initial internet event occurs? A real-life month after? A real-life year after? Or when someone just has to bring it up even after everyone else has, for better or for worse, initially forgot that that did just happen on the internet?

Anyway, the reason why I bring up these questions is that for the first time since looking through some of my [old] post here on The Escapist, I felt this nostalgic feeling while looking through them... Was it because of the [bookmarked] thread that my post took place in[footnote]Like <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.831705.20311383>this post, for example...[/footnote]? Was it because of what my post was saying either in and/or out of context[footnote]Like <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.863207.21542332>this post, for example...[/footnote]? Or was it because of something else that just relates back to my old post in question (like how it came to be and/or what was going on in parallel to real life)[footnote]Like <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/362.841168.20883010>this post, for example...[/footnote]?

So, first thing first Escapist community, have you ever looked back at some of your own [old] post before? If so, then were they part of thread you previously bookmarked? If not, then has anyone reminded you about any of your [old] post before? Now, to relate it back to the thread title, has there ever been a particular post on The Escapist (made by you or anyone else here) that made you feel nostalgic... even if the post in question isn't that old in real-life time? And, as a follow-up question, could you still link back to it (in general)?

[Looking through old posts]

Ew[footnote]Ew[/footnote]. Ewwwww[footnote]Ewwww[/footnote]. Ew[footnote]Ew![/footnote]! Ew, get 'em away! Why'd you make me do this? They're full of words I wouldn't use in regular discourse and there's too much unbridled (almost psychotic) optimism! These posts came from my first foray into the webinets, so I guess it makes sense that I'd have no clue how normal people talk? But still...

Do I look back? All the time.
I never bookmark threads.
No one reminds me of my posts. I generally don't get into actual conversations here. (Or anywhere, for that matter.)
Nostalgia? I've occasionally come across things it made me chuckle to see again. "Gee, that must have been about when Skyrim came out....."

Not nostalgia so much as being happy to be further away from this. Anti-nostalgia, maybe? http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.846708-Walmart-Fired-me-today-for-insabornation?page=3#20882797

Stuff like this makes me nostalgic about the subject matter, but not the post itself. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.835880-How-Did-You-Become-a-Gamer?page=4#20479219

Ah yes, I remember when THIS happened. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.825589-Surgery#20029745

Give me a second, I'll relive an old series of posts I did that I'm fond of. :)

I managed to track down the actual post where I started the silliness. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.283328-Blatant-Lies?page=188#12385869]

2011 Redlin posted in Forum Games. A lot.

[sup][sup]Bonus points for those of you who remember that the quote button was always on the BOTTOM of a person's post. :D[/sup][/sup]

You bastard... you also reminded me that the Konami Code works on this site and I just... just had to do it... son of a ***** my eyes. Its like hamsterdance all over again.

Ah well, at least I didn't press the red button.

BTW, for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about. Please, please press the red button.

OT: I occasionally look back at some of my older posts and go "did I really post that?" or "How in the hell did I get away with being such a dick?" Then I read more into those older threads and realize I actually was being the civil one in the conversation, but from my post alone it sounded dickish.

I change too much all the time to ever be nostalgic about my past selfs posts.
In hindsight, I was either a whiny little bastard or an edgy git. I would not get along with myself most of the time.
Months from now, I will probably look back and insult myself for being a conviction-less fence-sitter or something. In the meantime, neutral is best.

lol old posts, cue the nightmarish music... This is why my post count is so low people, quality not quantity and even so I refuse to look back... I mean it can't be that bad but the mind has a way of playing tricks. I can see myself looking back on THIS VERY POST and facepalming... No idea why but it could happen... Probably best not to dwell on the past, nostalgia can be fun and everything, I mean I still remember my very first post off the top of my head which I don't think was so bad. [footnote]Oh my would you look at all the banned people in that thread...[/footnote]

Even so there's always something you wish you didn't say or worse something you didn't say that you think of then. Suppose there's always the edit button but still...

I do find it pretty interesting where any user could leave such an impact that it almost becomes like their defining factor in and of itself... (Or, in the case of <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.872318.21882390>this, you leave just enough impact for someone to characterize you without actually seeing one's profile picture...)

Well, first off, I never said that nostalgia was either a good thing or a bad thing... Secondly, given my own <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/7.821524.19853758>first <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/9.821518.19853913>three <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.821349.19854682>post, it seems the only thing consistent about me is ellipses...

Then again, <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.828698.20177156>this random post did get me that nostalgia of "Why am I not putting those titles in italicizes? You know how to bold, glob dammit!", so there's that...

I just want to focus on this part of your comment by saying this phrase:Neutral is Love. Neutral is Life
It was honestly the first thing I thought about... as well as agreeing with that particular mindset...

I don't know, I think if I were to go back over any old posts I'd just be like "Wow, what was I thinking?" or "Jesus, I sound like such an idiot" So I tend to avoid them. Besides, I don't think my post count is high enough and I don't think I've been around long enough to have made a post of much impact or whatnot to be nostalgic about.
