For me it was Yahtzee's original old website back when he was still living in England and such. That was the best website until he moved to Australia and now his blogspot... Well it just isn't the same. I've always enjoyed his sense of humour on the original (crummy backgrounds and all) found at here http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/archive/

I remember growing up people were complaining about the 'flash' (sometimes defined as Macromedia Flash before it was owned by Adobe) and how it effected the substance. Thing is though, to this day I only really remember the flashy sites, even if only for how website should never ever look. I do mourn the loss of Geocities though. So many early websites lost.
I miss Geocities too, so many yellow backgrounds with pink text, animated under construction gifs, and large buttons.
Remember this?

Good times...goood times...

..and of course there was always Old Man Murray.

cartoonnetwork and nick.com

They are still around, but I remember being obsessed with those flash games.

this begs the question... what is the oldest website on the net that hasn't been updated for sometime?

I'd love to see some of the websites from the mid-90s... remember how they all looked like shit?
I believe this might give you the nostalgic flashback you are looking for.

Holy shit! I'd forgotten about that movie! Guh...
And that was a professionally made website, too...

OT: Well, I used to frequent Miniclip, runescape (depends, does that count as a site, or a game?), hotmail (use GMail now, infinitely better), oh, and this one: www.westwood.com. It no longer exists, and redirects you to EA. Bleh. BLEH I say! Give me back my childhood! *goes off to re-install Red Alert 2* *again*

This and Runescape.
I saw this and instantly knew "Canadian". Checked profile, and yes, Canadian, my age. So, so many memories. I still remember those huge games they had, where you had this pet... thing, and had to solve puzzles... By remember, I mean, have vague memories of. But I do remember they had this bizarre point-and-click adventure game in this guys house. He had all these animals stuffed, all on his walls, and you had to hide in things when he showed up.

EDIT: Re-reading this post made me feel old. This was some 8 years ago, though.

I've got nothing, even though I started using the Internet around 2003 I don't really have any fond memories of any websites, but I had been looking for a place to settle down on the web for all those years until I found this place back at the end of 2009, and even then I didn't even make myself comfortable here until the end of last year, so anyway, what I'm saying is that back in the day I was just looking for a place I could stay and I never found it, I went to many places but not one worth remembering.

I used to visit Newgrounds everyday, for some reason I just stopped and haven't really looked back since. Kongregate is more my style these days.

Classic website.

OT:http://www.newgrounds.com/ is a fairly nostalgic website for me, it's a shame I don't use it as much as I used to. I spend a lot of time trying to find my old account though, I made some hilarious, flash videos and I just can't find them anymore.
