Don't want the filler? Check the question below!
First of all, this isn't a 'what if' scenario. I'm posing a question about Zombie movies, novels, and stories that you may of heard. I assure you that this thread is somewhat original and even if it isn't, it doesn't matter because I'm asking for your opinion based on my contextual situation. So I was thinking of writing a novel / script with a zombie like theme. But apparently (especially on the iPhone App where you can read peoples unpublished novels for free) they are EXTREMELY common. My question is what are some Zombie stories that have really set themselves apart from your generic Apocalypse / Virus zombies hunting various survivors we don't care about? I mean sure most of us can sit down with a generic Zombie movie and still enjoy ourselves but it's probably a difficult market to break into.

For my story (don't steal my idea lol!) it has a kind of 'Silent Hill' sort of style to it BUT the actual Zombies themselves (fast runners) can only see where you are if you have your eyes open. Sure it's probably been done before (and in fact if you can point to where it HAS been done before then it will help me immensely instead of wasting my time) but it's still something I have thought about writing. An artist needs a muse just like any other, and personally I can't get attached to an idea unless there is some uniqueness to it.

Sounds like a good idea and how about I give you one of my ideas. The survivors are scientists returning from a research trip from Antarctica and land on a rural airstrip. Use it if you want, I don't care, good luck.

That would be an awesome introduction. Well done. :)

George A. Romero's original Night Of The Living Dead was the best zombie film ever made, especially because it has a political dimension to it that isn't immediately apparent. See it if you haven't.
