I think any FPS really, but especially Killzone 2 and the CoD games. FPS devs have a strong tendency to presume that because the game is from the first perspective it's somehow heretical to show your character in a cutscene, or at least in more than one or two.

But why? I suppose it has something to do with all the extra work it would entail, or maybe "immersion" (which I thought was a type of boiler), but whatever, more FPS cutscenes, please.

the Destroy all Humans series had alot but they were all really funny and had geeky quotes and more would be awesome, maybe they could replace the fucking protect missions.

Assassin's Creed 1 needed more cutscenes. You were allowed to control your character during the talky parts, so I just moved in circles until they finished talking, not hearing and not caring for what they had to say. If they made awesome cutscenes, I might have given a damn about the story.

Also, forgive me if I'm wrong, but...*squints*...is that CrazyHaircut94?
Yea, Assassin's Creed definitely could have used more cutscenes. That "press button when the screen looks glitchy" thing was just put there so we don't fall asleep during the cutscenes. I'm playing the second game now (much improved cinematics) and I'm just thinking it would have been cool to see Altair with his face revealed and some more expressive voice acting.

Any game that needs more cut scenes is a failure in storytelling. That being said I really wish they replaced the scene where you visit the demithor's head in WKC with a cut scene because the in game model looks like shit.
Isn't that kind of the thing of this thread? We're supposed to say games that would've had a better storytelling if they had cutscenes.

I'll start by saying Bad Company 2, which I'm playing at this minute. While I do get that Battlefield games are more aimed at online play, it seems like they didn't build up the backstory on this at all. They make such big climaxes where we're supposed to connect with all the characters, but there is so little story behind it. They didn't build up the characters, and they only show a few glimpses of their personalities and who they are. And it can't be called a sequel to the first Bad Company, as they remade all characters personalities from the first without even explaining it. Which is all a shame, cause the story is more interesting than most shooters I've played, and if they just put more effort into the campaign, it could be my contender for favorite FPS.
You've played the first one (I'm assuming), they fleshed out the characters in the first game, that's why there wasn't much of a need the second time. I didn't see a big change in any of the characters, except for Sarge, that is.

Prototype for me. The beginning cutscene is fine (perhaps even a bit too lengthy) but every cutscene after that goes a million miles an hour.

"Hey, you my sis?" "Yeah." "Cool, I'ma go kill some things." "Hey sis I'm back from killin'" "Hi, I'm a new character," "Hi new character, want me to kill things?" "Sure." "Hi, I'm one of the main bad guys that was covered heavily in the all the pre-game hype. I've only had 40 seconds of combined screen time so far and I'll be dead within the next few minutes." "Cool, cool."

Fallout 3, I would've preffered to have cutscenes which weren't ina 1st or 3rd person perspective, rather a cinematic view.

How can you say there is a good story while saying there is a lack of it? Im confused.

I never want more cut scenes, especially unskippable ones.

Find a way of conveying the story while I kick ass and I'll be happy lil gamer.

Pretty much any Blizzard games, not because they particularly need them, but because Blizzard are just so damn good at making incredible cinematic I want more.

I have to go with Assassin's Creed 1. Listening to long, drawn-out conversations with one stagnant camera angle is bad enough, but being able to control the character in a very small zone, and all you can do is just...walk around?

Pointless and boring.

FF12 lacked cut-scenes in the fill of it. It basically set you up real high and said: "Okay, now we're going to focus on the grand scheme of things instead of focusing on the main character...who's apparently not that important..."

...nb4 real basch.

A cutscene before each new campaign in Left 4 Dead would have been nice, to explain why the hell the survivors were in such radically new locations each time. Not so much in Left 4 Dead 2 since it is pretty much explained why the survivors ended up where they did at the beginning of each new campaign (Maybe a cutscene that does explain why the four of them were on the roof together though would be nice).
