It sucks living in Texas, where we don't get fall or winter. I'm not sure there's any place in Texas where they do.

...I'm pretty sure it snows in the northern part of Texas. The temperature does drop below the high 60's during the winter months, and sometimes even colder. Yes, that includes other parts of Texas too.
Now Florida on the other hand....

It all depends on how far south you live. Amarillo gets seasons.....as does Lubbock, sorta. Where I live in Texas, we tend to get more of a prolonged fall with a short burst of winter but it's not too often that we get traditional winter weather.

So what's your point? Are you asking us what fall/winter are like? Or asking other people about their non-fall/winter experiences?

Man, that sucks. Fall is one of the nicest seasons in Pennsylvania, and I'd imagine anywhere else with lots of trees. Very colorful, pleasant temperature, lovely nights, and it doesn't even rain that much. Summer is bullshit humidity or rain, and winter is finger hurtingly cold (not as bad as some other places, but still sucks plenty), so outside of snow, which is pretty but a fucking pain to have to shovel, especially when you're at work and have about 7 other things you could be doing instead of shoveling and slating the walk again, you're not missing much on that front.

Do people actually wear coats when it is 60 degrees? If so, that is hilarious. Here in South Dakota where in Spring/Fall it is generally always at 60-50 degrees, people still wear short shorts and short sleaved shirts.
Yeah, pretty much. I just moved from a place with winter so last 'winter' here in Austin Texas while everyone was wearing jackets I was fine in shorts and a tee shirt.

However my girlfriend has made the point that while 60 degrees doesn't seem cold when you've also experienced temperatures below freezing a few months before, when you're used to 110 degrees going down to 60 is a big drop. She originally from Texas and brings this up anytime I give her shit for using cold and Texas anywhere in the same sentence.

I really do miss winter. It sucks to drive in snow (okay, it sucks to have other people driving around with you in the snow) but I'm not doing well in this heat. My ancestors came from mostly Scandinavia and northern Europe, if I was meant for the heat I wouldn't be covered 90% by hair.

One of my Floridian relatives put it best: "In Florida there are two seasons; summer, and hurricane season."

New York doesn't get spring or fall anymore. We just get summer and Winter.
We used to get Spring and Fall, but over time the extreme seasons seem to have eaten them.

In Manitoba, Canada, if it's above freezing after the winter, people are in shorts and flip-flops. ... I'm not kidding.

That said... I think I still need all 4 seasons, but I want summer and winter to me much less extreme. Summer could be 10 degrees (Celcius) cooler on average, and Winter could be 10-20 degrees warmer. If -30(with the windchill included) was brutally cold and rare, I'd be okay. None of this -40 plus a windchill stuff. I'm sick of it. I'd be happy if normally winter was -10 to -20, -25 was unusually cold. And in summer, if like 27-28 degrees was really, really hot.

Spring and fall are fine. Aside from spring being so gross due to melt, they're my favorite seasons. Late spring is great - warm but not hot and no bugs, and early fall is simply the best time of year ever. Warm days, cool nights, and the light seems sharper and everything clearer and crisper and the world is changing and you can feel it with every sense. Love it.

Fall is my favorite season. It is one of the (few) good things about NY state. The trees turn into a dazzling array of yellow, orange, red, and brown. The temperature is perfect (50-65 degrees F), the food is great (apple season!), and it is just more relaxing overall.

Winter...is kinda a mixed bag this far up north. On the one hand, it is cool how at night you can see more clearly than during the daytime due to the light reflecting off of the snow. On the other hand, shoveling wet snow is back breaking work, and black ice on the roads is the thing of nightmares. Another plus of winter is that you will never breathe cleaner air than this, and it clears up your sinuses.

We had ice on the roads for a couple hours a few years ago in Houston. It was like the apocalypse struck. There were something like 3000 accidents during the morning commute, mostly because all the roads were clear but the overpasses iced over. If you want to see a city lose its collective mind, have a freeze warning in the South.

It feels like that every time it rains here in Austin. Okay maybe not that bad but between the people who still want to go 90 mph and the overly cautious drivers at 40 mph I'd rather just stay home and not risk dying on I-35.

Apparently in Brazil they have problems like this, but a bit more extreme. In the winter, it usually doesn't go further than 50-60 degrees (not sure how it is now, since this was some 20 years+ ago and climate change is becoming very noticeable in some places).
Anyway, since in the summer, people are used to routine 100+ Fahrenheit, the drop to 60s effects them not unlike a drop from 90s to below freezing for us. There have been people who literally suffered from hypothermia in above freezing conditions because their bodies are so accustomed and efficient at cooling themselves. My dad mentioned once that on a business trip, while he was comfortable in a suit and tie in the 58 ish weather, people were walking around with full winter garb, looking like they just went skiing.

But more on topic, i think, I personally dislike how chicago weather has become basically bi-polar as of late. For the last 2 years, the winter has brought quite a lot of precipitation, but it was always freezing rain, or a big snow storm that melted entirely less than a week later because the temperature went from 20 to 40-50.
Until about last week, our "summer" weather has been fluctuating from 60s to 85+ every few days, but it has finally normalized to a minimum of 70 or so.
I personally cannot possibly understand how anyone could deny the reality of human-induced climactic changes. Weather like this isn't normal. (cut this last sentence because i was just being a bit whiny).

When I first moved to north Texas from Pennsylvania, the lack of fall and winter was the only thing I liked about this place. When half of the year is gray and cold, and you have to spend an extra 20 minutes in the morning chipping the ice off your car door and windshield before you can drive (slide) to work, it's less of a winter wonderland than an uncomfortable, depressing hassle. Also cold, wet socks.

What I couldn't understand was hating summers, it was always the best time of the year. Then I came here and I quickly learned why everyone hates these months. Humans should have never come here.

Grew up in south Florida where "Fall" is one day in the spring where the trees shit leaves all over your yard and you have to clean it up. Sure we get "cool" days every now and again during "winter" but nothing major. The past few years have been colder than memory serves, but again nothing major considering I lived in Illinois one winter and experienced a true changing of the seasons... Holy fucking shit I'm glad I moved back to FL because shoveling snow in -17 degree windchill is SO much fun (/sarcasm).
Believe me you're not missing much. Take a vacation to the rockies and learn to ski, but generally if you've grown up in a warm climate its best to stay living there.

As someone born and raised in Texas I can guaran-damn-tee you that, yes, in fact you get fall and winter in Texas. I imagine that the OP must be in a very southern part of texas because where I live (mid-west texas) fall sets in and it gets a bit chilly (certainly not as cool as it would if you went up north, but still cool) and then in the winter we the temperature stays around 40 and below, hitting 20s and below temperatures just about every night.

As someone who doesn't have central heating I can tell you it gets damn cold and last year during winter I kept having to buy blankets and was using two large heaters to keep warm. I've had pipes freeze and one under the sink bust a while back.

So in short, I will be freezing my ass off once again when December rolls around.

You gotta understand, Texas spend three months of the year (usually April, May and September) in 80 degree weather. In June July and Augst most days it's 90-100 degrees, sometimes going as high as 105-110. So whenever it starts cooling off in october and we're talking 60 degree weather, you're dropping 20-40 degrees of heat that we've had to acclimate to. So yeah, when it hits 60 degrees we sometimes wear LIGHT jackets (things like sweater jackets, maybe some hoodies) and you're probably not going to see many shorts, but there aren't any parkas and long johns.

Well that sucks, you don't get all the benefits of winter.

But also, I am jealous you don't get all the downsides...

I'd rather have winter than not though, it offers a nice change of pace.

I live in England. We're in the middle of the biggest heat wave in years. I've never known it so hot D: been going on for weeks, I wish I could be in a wintery place!

Whoever your relative is they are right; we have 1 month of spring, 10 months of summer, 1/2 month of Fall like weather and 1 1/2 month of winter.

I've got to ask, what is the temperature there?
