Boot in safe mode, delete all traces of it from the registry and system 32, after that it should all be good. I definately wouldn't be trying anything outside of safe mode if I was you.

Try Malwarebyte's Anti Malware.

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

You may have to rename the mbam.exe and/or shortcut abd installer to a nonsense name to make it run, as some malware will block it. Be sure to click update before you scan. Do a quick scan, NOT a full scan as both will catch all active infection that the program is capable of detecting, and full scans literally take hours... The only advantage of a full scan is that it may detect some inactive remains of the malware. Also, be sure to run in normal (not safe) mode, on an admin account.

Also, to anyone asking what this 'personal antivirus' is, it's a rouge AV program... basically it's malware that pretends to be a functioning antivirus, which uses intentional false positives to convince a user to buy the 'full version' of the program. They generally do things to try and stop people from uninstalling or disabling them, so they arn't just dodgy, but legit programs, they are intentionally designed to be difficult to get rid of.

Go get Spybot Search and Destroy

It helped me get rid of Antivirus 2009 when it somehow installed itself on my computer.

What's Personal Antivirus?

It (the scam) is a virus that mimicks an anti-virus program finding a virus, then goes haywire with warning messages, then asks you to buy a better anti-virus, complete with "buy now!" buttons. I think it tries to get credit card details or something.

I had something similar a few days ago. I installed AVG anti-virus, then ran it, and it told me that a virus was resident in system memory and I should reboot. It (avg) then scanned my system before windows login on the next boot, and all good.

Boot Ubuntu from a disc, transfer all your essential files onto a external hard drive, and reinstall Windows.

I did this when a virus from Limewire killed Vista on my computer.

Oh, yeah! I remember that fucking thing!! It completely destroyed my Toshiba laptop!

I got it off once though and it was fixed for a while.

Here's the link to my question on it. The best answer is how to fix it: (yes, the guy who asked the question is me and that's basically what I look like)

AUGH, I HATE THAT PROGRAM. :(

We actually had to prowl around RegEdit to kill the last bit of it (with fire).

Nasty crap.

Reading the above responses involving Windows reinstalls and relapses:

You have go into regedit and kill the thing with fire. Delete every file and registry mentioned here, it's the only way.

Now I have a reason to go Windows 7

Its not letting me go on any other websites. Gives me error codes and tells me to purchase
