Does anyone else see this as an omen? Don't get me wrong I love super hero movies and I grew up with comics but even I have my limits. 7 super hero movies are being released in 2016 and I already know which ones I'm avoiding.

Don't you think people are going to get sick of these? how long till audences stop shelling out ten bucks every two months to see a new one? Maybe I'm the only one but I see dark clouds on the horizon that could effectively kill the nerd party we are enjoying right now.

I would go to the cinema more often if they relased an Avengers and Guardians every month, about once per movie :p

I believe Captain Killjoy is due for release in 2021.

I'll go to see some of them but some of the super hero franchises have already lost their shine for me.

I guess they'll just keep releasing them until they stop raking in mountains of cash.

My one issue is that some of these are sequels to movies that haven't even come out yet

What's the point of seeing the films when I already know for the most part that the story is still going on later?

Take Guardians of the Galaxy; since they announced a sequel before the film came out, I had no reason to care for the more dramatic parts since I knew they wouldn't kill off the team

Nothing's really kept a surprise anymore :/

Captain Killjoy, you say? I think Marvel's working on the Captain Killjoy movie as we speak...

OT: Yeah it does seem like overkill, but I'd more concerned if there were more sequels. The fact that a lot of the movies are using characters that are new (to the silver screen at least) makes me think it's sustainable, at least for now. A few might flop. My guesses would be Fantastic Four or Green Lantern.

I've been sick of it for a while.

And I just recently started reading comics.

I mean, I'm probably just an anomaly, but my apathy levels for everything related to the Marvel Cineverse have been getting higher and higher every month since The Avengers released--and I liked The Avengers. And while I also enjoyed Man of Steel, Warner Bros. kinda just seem like they're jumping on the bandwagon without actually taking into account how many good decisions they would need to consistently make to keep all of this up.

Frankly, I'm just annoyed that comic book weirdness is bleeding over into other mediums. That's probably weird to say from someone who has read a ton of DC comics in the past three months and has a good selection of Marvel's Ultimate line to-read. But they're weird enough as they are, I could really do without having all of that dragged into film as well, thank you very much. But so long as they keep making money hand-over-fist, I'm not going to begrudge them riding the wave.

They are comic book movies. Death is a minor inconvenience to super heros. Spiderman dying is effectively equivalent to him being stuck in traffic. Maybe that is just me being cynical but I'm looking forward to when the movies start failing and characters start dying and coming back to life regularly.

I think most of what Marvel puts out these days ("phase two" as they call it, like it's part of a world domination plan or something) is pretty weak. Tent-pole movies holding off until the next Guardians or Avengers movie. Meanwhile Warner, Fox and Sony jump in on the superhero bonanza. It's studios imitating studios imitating themselves. And I don't think any one of them would go on to project superhero movies for the next 6 years if they didn't KNOW they're going to earn back 10 times as much as what they're spending. So don't you worry about them. They'll be alright.

Personally I'm a little fed up with them. Largely because of what we're talking about right now. People never really talk about the movies. They talk about the movies that will come, and the ones that will come after, and who's gonna replace who as what character, and if this and that contract expire, and what other obscure character they can leech off for another year, and how this new movie spins off this other franchise, and the cancer-like growth of tie-in TV shows as tent-poles within tent-poles... it always boils down to circle-jerk speculation and talking about business practices. Hardly ever do we even stop to actually enjoy one of their movies, maybe even exercize some critical thought around it.

I agree. Honestly I only really thought Guardians, and The Winter Soldier made any effort to be more than a highly entertaining boom fest. I keep hoping that will change and they start putting a little more humanity into the stories. Marvel has a great cast of characters both in the movies and comics. I just wish we spent more time challenging the people they are rather than their talents you know? Black widow had an excellent moment with loki in the avengers but they ruined it by her turning around and being "tee-hee" I fooled you.

I gonna see all marvel's movies in the cinema... I think I will see X-Men Apocalipse too. The rest goes to a base to base case. So yeah, the market may be overflow with Super heroes movies but I still enjoy them, so there's no reason not to watch them.

They do that a lot with stories though. It's rare that I don't see deaths or "not deaths" coming.

I still Guardians of the Galaxy would make a fantastic TV series. In fact, they probably should have done that instead of making a sequel you know?

Everything that Guardians of the Galaxy did well I think a series could do equally as well but more of.

I'm still enjoying them too, but I think after the avengers 2 I'm going to make a decision whether to stick with them or just cash in my chips and walk. I really want to see the thanos story arc completed, I also want a pony and six billion dollars. I may not get any of those things just due to overload and unrealistic expectations.

Yeah, I imagine is easier for me than most people, I do live on walking distance to a cinema. So I don't get tired as much and don't need to spend more money on food or a car. I do have a somewhat light job right now that gives me a little time and money to spend on stuff, so I can make compromises...

The day that they stop making superheroes movie altogether will be the day when the audience no longer want superheroes movies. That what some articles say about anime and here we are, we still get anime release to the West and people still like them!

In saying so I wouldn't this logic is solid otherwise we should of stop getting zombie related media and games by now or is it not enough people telling them to stop the zombies???

Lastly, heh you're right, I know which superheroes film I won't be watching in 2017 (mainly the DC film and Sinsiter Six). Oh and they got 6 year to NOT scewed up the upcoming Green Lantern film! No excuses when it come!

I would argue that we have seen a massive decrease in zombie related material. Anime is something entirely different though. When you talk about anime you are talking about a medium. I don't expect people to get sick of anime because anime is varied. To the point where this

and this

can both be released and the pink one is the dark one xD. We didn't get sick of music and we didn't get sick of movies I'm just saying that this is overload.

Oh Colour, I love you so much.

I haven't been terribly disappointed in one of the films yet. But then I wasn't terribly dedicated to the original comics in the first place, so as long as they release movies that have fun characters and stories that don't insult my intelligence or sensibilities, I won't be disappointed. I'm one of those "easy to please" moviegoers, at least with the Marvel films.

I can't remember the last time I was surprised by a movie. Given I've see like every episode of the twilight zone, and have a high school understanding of English. So you know there's nothing new under the sun. I just don't get this gripe. You saw it coming? Yeah so did everyone else. It's about the journey not the destination.

Fixed for you:
Escapist has a custom script. In Brackets[] just put "youtube=(video id)" and that should work.

I disagree with that statement, but I agree with your sentiment. I'd argue that Iron Man 3 and The Winter Soldier were the only ones that tried (GotG went for style over substance), but even out of the two IM3 was the only one worth a damn. TWS had roughly as much political commentary as Star Trek Into Darkness, and the entire film was filled with moments that were making me wish I was reading another superhero story [http://parahumans.wordpress.com/about/] that was actually good.

OP: I don't give a shit how many superhero movies are planned/made; I only care about how many good movies are planned/made. Given the track record so far, I am given very few reasons to care.
