Here me out on this one, Microsoft is like a little kid that once finished with something, will throw it away and never look at it again. My examples? Just look at what they did to Ensemble studios, they made Halo Wars the last game they made. Those guys made many great RTS games, and now they were shut down by Microsoft. Bungie, they may not be on closing/shut down studio road, but Microsoft is too stupid to keep them, and from what I hear, they're letting Bungie leave and plan to make Halo 4 by themselves, . What company is next to be shut down by Microsoft? The day I see Microsoft shut down Rare, the world will know it as the day Microsoft HQ gets blown up. Rare made many great games themselves, DK 64, Banjo Kazooie's games, and the cute yet killer squirrel Conker, and I and a whole buncha other people would be outraged should that happen. So there, I've made my point. Bring it on, I'm not afraid to take your criticisms. Especially not you M$ fanboys out there.

Publishers shut down studios all of the time. Ensemble wasn't the only to close its doors this year. Also, Bungie bought their independence from MS with the Halo license. Your ignorance is obvious. Rare, in my opinion, deserves a shut down more than Ensemble did but MS has their reason for doing what they did. It's called a bottom line. Now, go back to sulking in the corner, clutching whatever game system it is you dry hump under the covers.

Ensemble Studios didn't make a good game since Age of Mithology anyway...

And releasing a RTS exclusivly for a console just so the 360 had a big exclusive title in the first trimester, just showed that Ensemble Studios were no longer the company that brought us AoE 1&2.

So yeah closing down was the best thing that happened to them.

I can't be arsed insulting or hating Microsoft anymore. Window 7 looks great, I don't care much about who makes the games, only if they're any good. As far as I know, Rare have done jack shit recently - nostalgia isn't a good grounding for maintaining a game studio, so it's not like their contribution to the gaming world would be missed or anything.

Sure, the early 360s were flawed hardware monstrosities, and MS' customer service sucked horrifically, but that's just a reason to not buy a 360 and let your money do the talking. I can't really hate Microsoft for doing anything other than being a rich, probably greedy corporation with a history of squeezing the competition out and infringing on anti-monopoly laws.

Not saying that that isn't enough of a reason, only that you're 'point', HaloHappy, is either non-existent or merely atrociously constructed, and comes across as some random rant about how much you dislike the idea of you favourite games company being shut down. There's little rhyme or reason there - come back later when you've thought things through :/

I'm sorry that they've shut down many great studios, but it's not like Microsoft are out to destroy every development studio they can. Factor 5, 3D realms and Free Radical design have all gone under recently without any involvement from the 'little kid'.

Also, to shut Rare down now would be doing it a favour. All the talented and passionate individuals that created their 'classic' titles left a long time ago. Now it just kind of wobbles about like a zombie, regurgatating a classic IP every so often.
