a list for the wii would be nice, then again... there isnt that many great things out for it
isn't the wii practically bane here on the escapsit?

I get the feeling that things like crap and such would make at least 3 spots from lack of other answers.don't get me wrong,I own a wii,I just don't see much love for it here,or anywhere for that matter.
While I agree with you in terms of Wii users being outcast, we've got a user group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Wii-Network] here that's 26 members strong, and like every other group, that's just who know about it rather than how many Wii owners exist. Still, I don't mind at this point, I question how it would be implemented.

The Steam list makes me chuckle, the lack of diversity is funny but it shows how popular those games are. Same with halo 3 (someone smell smoke?) and no KZ2 (seriously, is it just me?), ah well, subject to change.

I lol at Portal somehow being a top game.

It has pretty much no replayability, barely lasts any time at all, and I'm amazed people are still playing it.

And surprised at DoWII being up there.

Also, I can't participate to this because I don't log on steam as much as I should, and Quake Live doesn't count... ._.

Fuck. Steam users need more diversity. That's embarrassing.
Wait, there's stuff on Steam besides Valve games?!

In all seriousness the only thing I've downloaded from Steam is the Fallout pack.

On a side note, do that many people still play Halo 3?
Halo 3 is still an immensely popular game. I may get flamed for this, as it's the cool thing to hate Halo, now, but I have had more fun on Halo 3 with my friends than I have on any other game. We always start playing it again after we have played all of our other games.

I know this is in jest, but I was rather nonplussed to find that in order to even install Dawn of War II[sup]*[/sup] I had to get a Steam™ account. I thought that Games for Windows Live was supposed to deal with that themselves...

Anyway, in my case, DoW2 shows up in both the Xbox and the Steam columns. Weird.

[sup]*[/sup]Yes, I rushed out and bought it right after work... sorry, impulse control was rather low yesterday as I'd gotten an unexpectedly large bonus. At least it didn't go to booze...

Wait, why? If you buy the physical media why do you need to use Steam at all?

Three little letters... D, R, and M.

(I believe they also use it to distribute patches, and perhaps even to act as a form of cheat detection though I don't know enough about Steam to know whether it could work in that role.)

Hell yeah Audiosurf.

Is Killing Floor really all that awesome? I have to admit it looked a bit so-so average when I took a peak at it. It being that high though...
It is so-so but when played with friends it can be a lot of fun (the last guy you need to defeat is sooooooo hard :O)

With random strangers however, not so much

Anyway, did anyone else notice how the list of the PS3 contains a lot of TM while the other two don't at all?

It's kind of funny - I love Steam, but I barely play the Valve games (though I did really enjoy Portal). I love the fact that there's so many $10-20 games easily purchasable and downloadable - it's like XBLA for the PC. I do think it's awesome that Audiosurf is in the top 5 though, it really deserves it.

Also I'm both surprised and happy as hell that Mass Effect is still number 10 on the 360.
My guess is that it has a lot to do with it showing up as a fully downloadable game after the recent update, and that DLC mission that was recently released. I bet a lot of people picked it up digitally or pulled out their copies to play the new content.

I'm actually quite pleased at the sight of so many 'indie' games getting in the most played lists.

It means that you don't need a $50 million budget to make a good fun game that people want, and it also means these things are selling!

I have to tip my hat at the Xbox 360 owning Escapists here, there isn't a game on that list that I look at and think "why the hell are they playing that?" Kudos.

I agree with killing floor, but what's with the ps3 choices, so far i like fallout 3, so, i guess i'm somewhat
biased with what's like-able on the ps3, i also like puzzle fighter, mortal kombat, and those are also on the
ps3.

I am insulted and appalled that your list totally neglects the retro and offline PC gamer community. Do games not count if they don't have whorish "Achievements" or stat-tracking? Or are you being paid off by the Online Gamers Consortium?

Hey man, if you can come up with a way to track offline games online, be my guest :p
