The moments in reality or gaming that really does make it personal...personally. Although it happens a lot in reality since you are who you are, games give it a very personal sense that it is no longer the issues of the characters but those that involve you as well. This can range from movies - Bambi's mum, books - character deaths, games - character death, series - character death and/or just reality. I can't think of anything else besides character death that affects a person.

I think for me it was when little Nanako Dojima is kidnapped, personally, coming home to an empty house where a happy and cheerful 'Welcome home, Big Bro' no longer echoes through the empty halls really can be sad.

2nd Spoiler - I still don't hold it against Namatame or Adachi for what they did, and I wished they have had the true ending and a world for them was peaceful.

3rd Spoiler - Since they were unwitting pawns of Izanami, she had good reasons for what she did also...

I think it was in Fallout 3 when your dad dies, I felt like he was my only true friend through out the wasteland and for comfort I even played tapes of him talking for comfort.

I guess it was because I had a lot of father issues but I was really angry and sad when he died because I found a special relationship with him.

Never felt like that. When somebody dies, I'm usually too busy going through their pockets...

I rarely have these while playing the single player. I guess the only thing I can remember is in Dragon Age: Origins; stepping up to Ostagar, newly recruited by that very nice fellow, Duncan. Met the king of all things, and boy, I did really like him. A bit naïve perhaps, but a lot of courage, and he wasn't a dick like most of the fantasy human kings.

So when Loghain betrayed him, I was furious. I saw it coming, though, but still.

And the submarine incident in Bioshock. That pissed me off, because I genuinely thought Atlas was a good guy...

It mostly happens in multiplayer, though. When an opponent scores cheap kills on me, I get personal and unleash the fury.

Note: Not verbal fury, just focusing more. I'm not an XBL douchebag.

Numerous times in Final Fantasy games. That's why they're my favourite games. Well some, not so much. The ones I really enjoyed made me feel as though I was the main character and I felt the emotions they felt almost as though it had happened to me.
