My laptop powercord. I tried to fix it many different ways after the glue (YES, FUCKING GLUE) holding in the actual metal plug that goes into your computer wore away. First we just glued it back in, that worked for a while. That stopped working when this little thin metal piece that actually made that connection. I found that if I fiddled with the plug enough, it would still make a connection just long enough to load a webpage or two. That started taking longer and longer (up to about 15 minutes one time) and I decided to try to find a piece of metal that was similar to make a connection. First I tried a piece of a metal paper clip....sparks shot out and I was almost electrocuted. Next I tried a thin piece of metal from another part of my laptop that was falling apart, and that worked...for about two days. Turns out the original piece was heat resistant or something, as the new piece melted the rubber around it, preventing the connection (and stinking up the basement). After about a month of messing around with the damn thing, I finally bought a new cord for about 20 bucks. Wish I had done that sooner.

Well, the time I turned on a TV and it exploded made me somewhat concerned.
how did that happen? catho ray tubes(parts in old TVs that made the picture and where pressurized) aren't used in modern TVs because they would brake. they where the only moving/explosive part on a TV. unless this was an old TV, then it was the tubes committing a murder suicide.

now, before I get started, let me tell you I have yet to really pick a side for the console wars as I believe they can live in harmony, but don't. anyway, on with the rest.
As opposed to this, I take no real sides in the console wars because I know that nothing will ever end them EVER. I just chose a PS3 to be backwards-compatible with all my other PSX/PS2-related games I had BEFORE this debacle. I'm a pre-war man with three generations of Sony, not necessarily knocking X-Box games 'cause there ARE some ones I like.

Now then...what I WILL say is this: X-Box has the Red Ring, and I hear about it happening alot. Someone here also told me about the Yellow Light of PS3 Death, but I have never seen it happen or heard about it from anyone else. I'm guessing it doesn't happen as often. I dunno.

By any chance did this happen to anyone else, with the old Brawl dual layer disc problem?
Brawl royal fucked up my Wii. Ever since I got it two years ago it makes this irritating buzzing noise every time it reads a disk.

My computer has a nasty habit of randomly restarting. After doing this about 6 times in a row a BSOD came up.

One good cleaning later and it worked a treat.
Happens to me too.

I was playing Arkham Asylum and Blue Screen comes out and says hi.

An '88 Chevy Cavalier, which decided to simply burst into flames and take half my garage with it. I hadn't driven it since the day before, and it showed no signs of trouble then.

And no, it didn't explode.

WEll spare a few console crashes that's about it. Though my mother used to have this old tele up in her work room which one day stopped working and started puring smoke from behind the screen.

Mind you a guy in my class said his washing machine exploded.

I was at my mate's place last night, and we had a gaming session, so I took my xbox over.
It was very hot, and because my xbox is from the first line that were brought out, it overheated alot, and kept getting two red rings.

Frustratiiion.

My Wii had some sound issues when I first got it.

Had to send it in, got a new one, haven't had a problem with it since.

I know my brother has gotten a RROD before though.

That's about it for console issues with me.

I tried to switch on the ceiling fan by pulling the cord and it ripped a hole in the ceiling plaster, fell a little ways, and almost gave me a concussion.

Turning on a computer, the fucking thing exploded.

I'm not exaggerating, it wasn't a very loud or painful explosion but the thing did actually detonate. Since then I've tended to avoid my school computers.

Brawl did the same to my Wii. It does the annoying buzzing thing when it reads any disc. When Brawl is in, it sounds like it's eating the console from the inside out.

An old cell-phone of mine literally melted once.

Seriously, the battery went haywire and heated up so badly, all the metal started leaking out of the plastic, before that too turned liquid. Stench hung around for months afetr that.
