When I play single player or multi-player L4D2, I end up being at the bottom of the Special killer (killing zombies with names) AND the general defense (Killing faceless swarm zombies).

Dammit, Rochelle, stop being so good.

You guys have brought up an awesome point; it is worse if a terrible partner - prime example, Sheva in RE5
If sheva were ever to have done anything remotely useful I'd jump up with a mixture of joy and surprise. She has single handedly killed my will to finish re5 due to either constantly dieing, getting me killed by blocking my aim or taking sniper bullets meant for the chainsaw dude, or just failed in general.

Actually OP brings a good point... If I were to play again then she killed the final boss after having been worst then useless, it would be the final insult.

Sheva excepted though... Usually Im happy if my tms do what they are supposed to do, means less busy work for me and makes them earn their paycheck.

Yeah, Sheva only managed to kill one meta boss in my solo playthrough, but it felt like such a slap in the face I damn near quit the whole game

You know what's even worse? When they get the special killer by shooting the final blow after you unload multiple rounds into a tank or charger.

Its morely that they run in front of me when Im trying to attack.

"hey Im your side" gets boring after about the 50th time.

Eh. It's more if the game feels like a solo game over a party game for me, or marked somewhere. As far as Mass Effect is concerned, if the target is dropped then hooray. I don't care who did it, only that it was achieved. With something like DF Adventure, which marks all your character's kills, then yeah I want to be the one to take the enemy down.

Well I've never had a problem with it. I've always played either the sniper or the HEAVY WEAPONS GUY. So it makes sense that my team mates, who I spec out to go toe to toe would get the final shot.

I get that at times. A fairly unknown PS2 JRPG called Rogue Galaxy had a real time fighting system, which could be tricky to get a hold of at first. I found myself just sitting back shooting dudes while my team-mates beat up on them.
That was an excellent game.

OT: I found that Alistair and Leliana did most of the heavy lifting in Dragon Age: Origins.

Worse instance for me was Fable 2. I was letting the last boss go on his usual soliloquy about his mad scheme and then Reaver shoots him in mid-sentence. I was like wth. What a horrid way to end a game.

No, never had a problem with that. I'm not egotistical.

I was always happy to see Wrex put the last bullet in Saren.

You think its bad in ME, try it in DA:O. On certain enemies you get 'fatalities' that, as far as I can tell, only occur when the character the player is controlling kills the enemy, and then only if that character is a melee fighter. The number of times I replayed a boss fight just for those fatalities...

Boone from New Vegas does this all the time.

"Oh, looks like I'm picking up enemies on my radar, guess I'll get out my binoculars and see what"
*Kill Cam shot of a Gecko's Head exploding*
"...oh, I guess Boone got it. Great job jackass, now I have to walk all the way over there to loot the damn thing. You really need to back off so I can finally fight something. I haven't gotten the chance to punch anything since I recruited you three hours ago!"

I've been replaying 2010 World Cup recently. Playing through as Canada in the Captain Your Country mode. My player is a striker, and averaging 5+ goals a game. The other striker has about half of that, mostly assists from me. I've been captain of the team for months, all through out the qualifiers. But we get to South Africa, and suddenly the other striker is wearing the arm band. Buh?

I've noticed that my NPCs usually get the finally kill. It's never really bothered me... but it is something that has stuck out for me.

I suppose it can suck from time to time, but Im just happy to have npc teammates in a game capable of actually killing something, too much lone wolf stuff in video games these days, and other humans cant be trusted :p. The future is smart AI buddies.

Signed, that dude who always plays a summoner in RPG's.

The A.I. on easy in Left 4 Dead.

"Hunt--"
"DEAD!"
"Boom--"
"Nice shot Nick!"
"TAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN-----"
"Nailed it!"

Jesus, say what you will, but they are a firing squad, no denying that.
